Teacher Introduction Letter in Español
This video supports family engagement in online learning by reviewing what we have been working on in class, in this case Problem Solving, and sharing strategies for extending learning at home, both independently and collaboratively.
Rationale
At the beginning of the school year, families will receive a teacher introduction letter from me that will include a little bit about my teaching background, who I am as a person, what my contact information is, and how I will be supporting students throughout the year. During the school year, I will also be sending out monthly newsletters to the students' families, giving them insight into what the students are currently learning, important events that are coming up, and crucial reminders so that nothing goes unnoticed. I believe that maintaining constant communication between families helps to build a strong parent/teacher relationship and leads to student success. By sharing information through my teacher introduction letter and sending out monthly newsletters, it is my goal to keep families informed, foster trust between both parties, and also encourage the parent/guardian(s) involvement in their child's learning. Having these regular updates about their child also helps ensure that the students' family feels valued as partners in their educational process and have all of the tools that they may need to support their learning at home. This connects to my overall philosophy for creating a classroom learning environment because I want to establish a secure, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where each student can recognize their full potential. Effective communication is essential for building student-teacher relationships and with students' families, which supports the theme of Teacher is Accountable. Maintaining open lines of communication with families demonstrates professionalism, transparency, and a commitment to student growth.
