An EDS 199 Special Project Portfolio
by Isabel M. Claros
Welcome to My E-Portfolio!
Hello! I am Isabel M. Claros, from the University of the Philippines Open University, Major in Instructional Design and Technology.
This e-portfolio documents my special instructional design project titled "Reading and Comprehension Reinforcement for ALS Learners (Elementary Advanced)" aiming to enhance foundational English reading and comprehension for ALS Elementary Advanced learners through five structured learner booklets.
This project was conducted as part of the EDS 199 course, focusing on developing learning materials for out-of-school youth enrolled in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) at the Elementary Advanced Level (Grades 4–6). This special instructional design project aims to be of aid to my project locale, Cecilio M. Saliba Elementary School (ALS Program).
Through this site, you will find detailed documentation of the project’s background, design, implementation, and impact.
First and foremost, I extend my deepest gratitude to our Almighty God, whose grace and guidance made this project possible. Thank You for granting me the opportunity to apply what I have learned as an aspiring instructional designer in a real-life setting—and for leading me to the right people who helped bring this project to life in service of the ALS learners.
To Sir Ley Gripal, our Faculty-in-Charge, thank you for your valuable guidance and encouragement. Your insights shaped the direction of this project and gave me clarity on how to make it meaningful and impactful.
To Teacher John Tadeo Durano, Head of the ALS Program at Cecilio M. Saliba Elementary School, thank you for your unwavering support and for accommodating me into your already full schedule. Your belief in the project allowed me to carry out this vision for the benefit of our ALS learners.
To the ALS learners of CMSES, thank you for your time, openness, and participation. Your willingness to engage with the booklets and share your learning journey gave this project its heart.
To my mother, Arlyn Claros, thank you for being my lifelong instructor and motivator. Your quiet strength and constant encouragement empowered me to finish this project and push through the challenges.
Lastly, to the University of the Philippines Open University and the Faculty of Education, thank you for your dedication to providing quality education. Your commitment to nurturing lifelong learners and educators has given me the tools to design and serve with purpose.
And lastly, to myself—for all the sleepless nights, silent battles, and countless cups of coffee you endured.
This project is dedicated to all learners who continue to dream and strive—no matter the path they take.
with love - Isabel
