Reflective Statement
Cultivating student ability while building on their knowledge is easier said than done. The learning styles in my classroom vary, but it takes some time to figure out what their needs are. The resources for teaching my content are limited to the accompanying software which provides a reader in their browser if they need it. Another way that we make accommodations is to have one to one conversation about the content, with formative assessments throughout the day. Small group work is also effective while students are troubleshooting a new step or skill. Some students who are gifted can help those who are struggling. Students with behavioral problems need incentive to continue in the program, so we daily connect real life scenarios to their content to give them opportunities to interact and respond. Lectures still happen, but providing different ways for students to learn intermittently is engaging and provides the support they need.

Throughout the Networking and Cybersecurity course students are able to build and design complex networks. I chose this evidence because I really appreciate that fact that using this software allows students to interact with real-world scenarios in a manner that aligns with devices that are used in the Networking and Cybersecurity industry. The report of accomplishments demonstrates that I am able to differentiate and apply various methods of teaching to accommodate students with special needs. The second piece of evidence demonstrates that I can understand how students learn and what tools are used to help them in the classroom. I was able to identify my own strengths and weaknesses and wrote this sample IEP.
