🌸 Halifax Civic Trust – Spring Lunch
True North Restaurant, Dean Clough, Halifax
Join us for a delicious Spring Lunch in the presence of the Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Steven Leigh MBE, and Mayoress Linda Leigh. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our guest speaker Barrie Rutter OBE, English actor and founder and former Artistic Director of Northern Broadsides, based at Dean Clough. His talk is entitled ‘Hull, Hell ’n Halifax’. It promises to be an interesting afternoon with good food and good company.
We will begin at 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start, and the event will close at 4.00pm prompt. There will be a raffle, with funds raised supporting our future work.
🎭 Guest Speaker – Barrie Rutter OBE
Barrie Rutter is the Founder and Artistic Director of Northern Broadsides. Born in Hull, his acting career has spanned over six decades and taken him from Hamburg to Helsinki, Bradford to Beijing. A true “theatre animal”, his work has included performances and direction for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre, and theatres across the UK and internationally.
His extensive body of work includes productions such as Henry V, King Lear, Macbeth, Richard III, and The Mysteries, among many others. In 2015, Barrie Rutter was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours.
