The City of Windsor is inviting residents to participate in the Environmental Perspectives Survey, which offers a meaningful opportunity for the community to share views on local environmental priorities, program awareness, and ideas for future action.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey by October 31, 2025. All responses will remain anonymous and are collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, and are subject to the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Province Decides to Micro-Manage Municipal Bike Lane Infrastructure

The provincial government has decided to limit municipal bike lane infrastructure through legislation. The decision is another in a long list that will undermine climate action in Ontario. Transportation emissions are a major source of Ontario's greenhouse gas pollution. Yet the province sees the problem as one of too much active transportation. National Urban Park Legislation Needed, Without Delay
May 2024
Non-government groups led by Friends of Ojibway Prairie and by groups in Windsor, Essex County provided comments to Senate hearings about Bill C-248, an act to amend the Canada National Parks Act with the addition of Ojibway National Urban Park. Urgency is required now before the current Parliament session ends and C-248 is terminated. Read the submission.
New Policy Changes to Conservation Authorities Potentially Risk Property and Life of Ontarians

The Ontario government has removed planning and enforcement powers of Conservation Authorities to the Minister in charge. This latest undermining of Conservation Authorities adds potential deadly risk to property and lives. Over 60 groups wrote to the provincial government about these changes and the potential adverse results.
Report and Recommendations to Address the Danger of Large SUVs and Pick-up Trucks to Pedestrians and Cyclists in Canada
April 2024
An Ontario-wide coalition of road safety and community groups (C.R.A.S.H.), including the CEA, released its report --- “Oversized Danger” --- about the lethal danger of pickups and large SUVs. The coalition’s recommendations call for action from all three levels of government to protect pedestrians, persons with disabilities, and cyclists.
Ontario Government Subsidizes Fossil Gas Pollution
April 2024
The Ontario government has proposed to reinstate and increase public subsidies for Enbridge, and overrule the Ontario Energy Board. The decision will result in increased carbon pollution, and increased energy bills; just two of many impacts cited by the CEA and other groups in a joint submission to the Ontario government.

Municipal Climate Action in Ontario
February 2024
The Urban Climate Alliance (UCA) presented a webinar entitled: Municipal Climate Action in Ontario - Working Toward Sustainable, Resilient, and Vibrant Communities at the Local Level as part of the UCA's ongoing collaboration on climate action in Ontario municipalities.
The CEA works locally, regionally and internationally to improve air quality and decrease exposure to harmful pollutants.
The CEA mandate to restore, maintain and enhance our local environment represents a long term commitment to fulfilling the needs of environmental sustainability for human and non-human species in our region.
The CEA in conjunction with 19 of Ontario’s leading environmental organizations have created Green Prosperity, an action agenda for the province, that we believe will help make Ontario a world leader in green practices and programs.
The CEA has created a set of environmental priorities for the new Council term focused on climate action and resilience and are intended to be updated. These priorities are long overdue actions that Council should have accomplished already given the climate crisis.

The Great Lakes basin is a sink for thousands of toxic chemicals. The CEA works to empower citizens, through information, to hold polluters and governments accountable for pollution prevention and the reduction of chemical pollution.
The UCA is a network of four Ontario-based municipal environmental organizations working to advance climate action at the city level.
The CEA has participated in the development, and been a leader, of Ontario water policy and protection.
Windsor-Essex Environmental Priorities (WEEP) Coalition brings together some of the area's leading environmental and conservation groups to develop and promote shared priorities that will enhance the area's resilience and build a sustainable future.
