Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to promote environmental awareness and action. First observed in 1970, it has grown into a global movement recognized in over 193 countries. Whether it's planting trees, reducing waste, cleaning up local parks or learning about climate change, Earth Day is a powerful reminder that every action counts, and that we all have a role in protecting the environment for future generations.
Earth Day in Windsor-Essex is a vibrant, community-wide celebration that brings together residents, organizations and local leaders to promote environmental awareness and action. Held each spring on a Sunday close to Earth Day, this free, family-friendly event features interactive exhibits, live entertainment, educational activities and hands-on opportunities to learn about sustainability.
Locally, Windsor-Essex will celebrate together on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For many years CEA has provided an annual State of the Detroit River Boat Tour that is fun and educational. Guest speakers discuss pertinent environmental issues that affect us all. View photos from past tours. as well as lists of past speakers.
The Enviro Achiever Awards recognize individuals or organizations who have performed in exceptional ways in regards to our environment. The Weenie Awards recognize individuals or groups who have done the opposite. To nominate a person or group, contact us.

Smogfest was an annual series of events designed to create air quality awareness. Held throughout the month of May, events included an art exhibit, tours and forums.
