Hello! My name is Cindy Wagner. This is a picture of my family. My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and we have two sons. We also have two dogs, two cats and a turtle! I am excited to be starting my next career as a teacher in business education. I spent the last 27 years working in corporate accounting and finance where I spent 17 years with my last company. I started as a Financial Analyst and worked my way to Finance Director. The last few years of my corporate career I was looking for a different challenge and decided to pursue teaching. Why teaching? I have spent the last 13 years volunteering for Boy Scouts of America (BSA) starting as a Cub Scout Pack 138 Membership Chair followed by Committee Chair. I am now a BSA Troop 37 Treasurer, Life to Eagle Advisor and Merit Badge Counselor (MBC). It is this last role that prompted me to consider teaching. As a MBC, I teach various merit badge requirements for certain merit badges where I have expertise. One of these is Personal Management which is very similar to the Illinois high school graduation requirement of Personal Finance or Consumer Economics. It was this last merit badge where I was receiving positive feedback from Scouts and parents about how well I explained a topic or engaged the Scout. This prompted me to take on this challenge and find a path to become a teacher leveraging my 27 years of corporate experience, my 13 years of Scouting and my bachelors degree in accounting. I found my calling to teaching and Trinity Christian College had the education program that fit my schedule and had the licensure program for business education. Three years later I have completed the adult studies education program and expect to have my teaching license for business education grades 5 through 12 by the end of December, 2021. I am ready for my next career! I am fortunate to say that I will have worked both my dream jobs in my lifetime.
