His leadership within the hockey community was evident throughout his tenure. He served as a scheduler for Arvada Hockey from 1988 to 1990, demonstrating his commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of hockey activities within the organization.
Additionally, Tom held esteemed positions within CIHRA and CAHA, including serving as CIHRA President from 1991 to 1995, CAHA Representative in 1996, Vice President of Referees in 1997 and 1998, and ultimately as CAHA President from 1998 to 2000, leaving an indelible mark on the governance and development of hockey in the region.
Tom's service to his country is also recognized, having bravely served in the Coast Guard with a tour in Vietnam, exemplifying courage and sacrifice both on and off the ice.
