A gap year is a break from formal education, typically taken after high school or before college, to gain life experience through travel, work, or volunteering. Students take gap years to explore career interests, develop new skills, reduce burnout, and enhance their college readiness. Do your research! Understand what it means to take a true GAP year.
Consider applying to college and deferring your admission for a year. Talk to your counselor about this option. Take all necessary steps (SAT/ACT) if you will be applying to college.
