Weekly Email for August 6

Hello, Marching Band Parents! School starts next week and we are already rolling on Marching Band Season. We’ve got four weeks to get everything ready for our first football game. There’s a lot to do!

We’ve got several things for you this week so please take a few minutes to read through this when you have time. Biggest item is the apparel order form so make sure to look at that if you want exclusive “Across the Stars” merch!

Band Website - make sure you’re checking it

Please make sure you are checking the schedule on the Band Website on a regular basis. Mr. Miller has posted information about Picture Day on August 15 and our rehearsal schedule is posted there. 

2026 Apparel Order Form

The exclusive “Across the Stars” merch is now available to order! Please fill out the order form and then turn in your payment. If you have Venmo, that is the easiest way to pay. Instructions for ordering and payment are at the top of the form. Please place your order by August 14.

Mattress Fundraiser - date changed! 

Our mattress fundraiser has been moved to October 25. Please update your calendars! The vendor could not get enough staff to commit to our original date. So, a few things here:

1. If you already have your sign up, please take it down.

2. The vendor is going to send us stickers to update the date on our signs and we will get those passed out as soon as they come in.

3. We will tell you when to put the signs up so please don’t lose them!

Parent Practice with show set up - working on a date

As we’ve shared, this year is an entirely new type of show for CHS. The kids are having a great time with it and the best way for us to support them is to help get the logistics worked out and made smooth.

To that end, we are going to have a parent practice session on a weekend in August (date TBD) where we will get out on the field with all of the new microphones on their stands and their cables and the cable holders and the props and whatever else we need, and figure out how all of that stuff will get put on the field and taken off the field in some sort of efficient manner. 

What will that look like? I have no idea! That’s what we need our parents to help with. If we can get a good-sized group of parents who know what needs to happen, then it won’t matter who can be at which football game or competition because there will be enough of us at any given event to do what needs to be done. 

If you’re interested in helping with this, please be on the lookout for that date! 

Trailer - help with an inspection

Our large trailer needs to be inspected before September 30. Is there someone who can make that happen? If so, please text me at 540-505-1813.

Trailers - help with moving them around CHS

Our band trailers are currently in parking lots and in the way of normal traffic. Their permanent home is currently in a construction zone so we can’t park there. Mr. Miller has received permission for us to park the band trailers in the CHS Stadium where we normally park during a football game. We need help moving the trailers to that location. I can show you where that is and how we get over there.

CHS Festival - mark your calendars

Please mark your calendars for September 19! The CHS Band Festival is a HUGE fundraiser for us and it takes a lot of help to make it happen. We appreciate any time you can give us and we will have volunteer sign ups ready two weeks before the event. In the meantime, please mark your calendars and plan to spend some of the day with us!

Trailer drivers needed for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday

We are looking for someone who can help with driving the trailer during evening rehearsals on Thursday and Friday this week, 5:30-8:30pm. If you can drive a trailer and are willing to help but don’t have the right vehicle, let me know and let’s work something out. Please text me at 540-505-1813.

We also need someone to help us drive the trailer on Saturday morning for moving Pit out to the field for the Parent Performance and then afterwards to help move the Band back to CHS. We would need help starting at 8:30am until about 12:00pm (or whenever we finish). Same story as above - if you can do it and have the time but not the vehicle, please let me know.

Parent Performance on Saturday morning

Please join us on Saturday at 9:30am at CMS for a Parent Performance. The students would LOVE to show you their progress so far.

Moving back to HS on Saturday morning

Directly after the Parent Performance, we will need to move the Band back to CHS. Anyone with a vehicle that we can put stuff in, we would love it if you could help us out for an hour or two after the performance. Some items are rather large so pickup trucks are welcome and needed. SUVs are great but really any car is appreciated. 

Tshirt Reveal on Friday night

Our 2026-2027 tshirt design will be revealed on Friday night and all students will receive their shirts, which they will wear on Saturday morning. For parents who are helping during Band Camp, you get a free tshirt and Byron will be passing those out. We kept the order tight so if we don’t have your size right away, we will make sure to get you your shirt in our next order, which will happen soon.

Ordering 2026-27 Tshirts and Sweatshirts

The form to order your snazzy 2026-27 tshirts and sweatshirts will be sent out on Saturday after the Parent Performance.

Name tags have been ordered

I have placed the order for all parent name tags that I have received so far. I don’t know when I will have them in hand but I’ll get them to you as soon as I do.

Hello, Marching Band Parents! Pre-camp is going well. Band Camp is next week and we have a few things we need help with for that. Please make sure you’re reading this email every week and checking the Band Booster website for volunteer signups and updates. We hope to see you at a Parent Social next week!

Trailer driver needed for evenings during Band Camp

We need to move the pit equipment from the band room to the field for evening rehearsal each night during band camp. For this, we need the trailer and someone to drive it. Doesn’t have to be the same person every night! 

If anyone has a truck that can pull a trailer that we estimate to be 10,000lbs when loaded, we would appreciate the help. We load the trailer about 5:45pm (so arrive about 5:30pm) and then put everything away about 8:30pm so it is an entire evening. Can we share the love and each person take a night (or two?). I’ll give you a tshirt!

Parent Name Tags

If you would like to order a parent name tag, please fill out this order form. I will be placing the next order on Monday morning. We order on a rolling basis so if your name tag wasn’t in the last batch and you’ve already filled out the form, you don’t need to do it again. 

Band Camp - volunteers needed

Our volunteer schedule for Band Camp is looking good. Monday is all set. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon could use some help if you have a couple of hours. 

Parent Socials during Band Camp

We would love to see you at one of our Parent Socials during Band Camp. They will be held near the practice field each evening during outdoor rehearsals at CMS from 6:30-8:00pm. Stop by as you’re able and meet the Band Boosters! We will have snacks each night:

• Monday - Come on by for an old fashioned Ice Cream Social

• Tuesday - “Pop-in” and see us and grab some popcorn

• Wednesday - Learn how to “Get your Hands Dirty” and come by for a dirty soda

• Thursday - Stop by for a “Trail Mixer” and have a snack
