Weekly Email for October 13

Hello, Marching Band Parents! Sending this a day early because I realized in the middle of last night that I sent a sign up for the meal on Friday but not the actual game. Oops. And! I found out the Middle School is sending 25 kids over (yeah!) but that means we need a bit more food so I updated that sign up. Plus! Next week is busy and we need to get all of that covered. Phew! This Friday - October 16

Band Meal - We will feed the band and middle school students before the game. This sign up has been updated to include a bit more food to cover everything. We need your help! There are several items that we still need provided. If you can provide the food but can’t get to the school by 4:30, let me know and we can work it out for someone to pick up the food!

Home game - We will do the performance at half time. Duh! I forgot to send out this sign up but we do need the usual crew to help. Sorry for the short notice!

Next week

October 21 - Assessment in Salem, HELP NEEDED!

We need a trailer driver, star transport, and help with getting the equipment on and off the field. Yes, it is the middle of a weekday and I understand that is difficult as I cannot take any more time off myself so I can’t be there. You can sign up to help here and I’ve listed details for each job next.

The trailer driver (1) will need to be at the school by 8:30am and have the trailer at the Band Room ready to load by 9am. They will be with the band all day and done with trailer parked by about 3:45pm.

The star transport (2-4 vehicles) will need to be at the Band Room by 9:30am. They will be with the band all day and done by about 3:30pm

Pit Crew (8) - If you’re able to spare the time, here’s what it will look like:

• 11:30am - be at the CHS trailer parked at the Salem Stadium, help unload trailer and set up audio equipment

• 12:00pm - get equipment to field and set up for performance

• 12:30pm - performance

• 12:45pm - get equipment off the field and back to the trailer

• 1:00pm - load trailer

• 1:30pm - you’re done and can leave

October 23 - Meal and Game

I don’t have exact times for this date yet so cannot provide sign ups today. But here is a basic rundown of what will happen - Boosters will feed the band before the game and seniors will do speeches during/after dinner. Somewhere in there we will load the trailer. Then Boosters will clean up while the students get dressed and we will all head to the stadium for the game. We will perform the show at half time. While we are setting up for the show, they will start presenting seniors for fall sports like football, cheer, and cross country. Then we will perform the show, and after the performance, they will announce the remaining sports and band while we are breaking down pit.

October 24 - William Byrd comp

I don’t have exact times for this yet either but will post the sign up as soon as I do. William Byrd is a good comp so make plans to be there to support CHS band and cheer loud!

George Wythe Comp rescheduled for October 31

Mark your calendars! We don’t have exact times yet but those are coming soon. Keep an eye on the Marching Band page for those details.

Save the date for Breakfast with Santa

Please mark your calendars for December 4-5, 2026. This is our annual Breakfast with Santa (BWS) community event and fundraiser. We will decorate on Friday, December 4 in the afternoon and evening. We will host the event the morning of December 5. Sign ups will be provided about 2-3 weeks prior to the event. If you’d like more information on what this event is and how you can plug in to help, please check out the Breakfast with Santa page of the Band Booster website.

Hello, Marching Band Parents. Two things for you today, including an important update about tomorrow night. I’m going to send the rest of the stuff for next week on Saturday morning. Info on the Band Booster website should be up to date.

Tomorrow - HOCO football game, new show time

IMPORTANT! We are doing the show BEFORE the game because the homecoming program is during half time. 

NEW PLAN! This means that everyone who signed up to help at half time, we now need you at the stadium at 6pm. If you can’t make it then, we understand. If any of you who didn’t sign up CAN make it at 6pm, we would love to see you!

Our timeline for setting up the show and getting off the field is very tight this time so we need all the help we can get! 

Saturday - George Wythe comp, need more help

First, I changed the sign up colors so when you open it, it will look different. Same sign up, just new colors because the first version was not readable. Sorry about that! 

It’s not filled out on the sign up but we have a trailer driver so we’re good there.

Here is what we still need help with:

• Help loading before we leave - 1:30-2:30pm

• Bus chaperones - ride the bus, count kids, pass out snacks, don’t spend money on gas

• Help unloading when we get back - 11:15-11:45pm. Yes, it’s late! We know. We’re tired and cranky just thinking about it. But you have to pick your kid up anyway and many hands make light work. If you can help, we would appreciate it.
