AWM and SIAM Student Chapter (Williams College)
This fall I am the faculty advisor for the AWM student chapter at Williams College. I am also the faculty co-advisor for the SIAM student chapter at Williams College (with Julie Blackwood).
Textbook donation initiative (UM)
When I found out that some of the students in our math classes cannot afford a textbook, I started a donation program in the Mathematics department at the University of Michigan. At the beginning of every semester, we email former students and ask them to donate their books, so that current students can borrow them. We have been able to create a small library of textbooks for Math 105, Math 115 and Math 116.
Peer class visits (UM)
At the University of Michigan, I established a program in the math department to bring graduate student instructors together and discuss effective teaching practices. Instructors visit their peers' classrooms to draw inspiration and potentially adopt some of the methods they observe. Then, we meet (over lunch) to elaborate on these methods and find ways to incorporate them in our classrooms.
