Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM)

Join the AWM Student Chapter for our first Meet & Greet of the year!

Come meet other students interested in mathematics, learn more about the chapter and our plans for the year, and share ideas for future events. Whether you’ve been involved with AWM before or are just curious to learn more, everyone is welcome.

The event will take place on Thursday 09/24 at 2-3pm in the Frank Morgan Library. We will have refreshments and snacks!

Since our founding in 2015, we’ve hosted a variety of events to bring together students who love math, foster mentorship, and build community across class years. Some of our favorites include:

• Kick-Off Events – Our annual welcome gathering at the start of the year, where students meet new members, reconnect with friends, and learn about upcoming AWM activities.

• Pre-Registration Socials – An informal space to share course advice, discuss professors and workloads, and enjoy snacks before signing up for classes.

• Student/Faculty Dinners – An evening with math faculty where students can share a meal, hear professors’ stories, and build connections with mentors in a supportive setting.

• Pi Day Celebration – An annual tradition featuring pizza, pies, and plenty of π-themed fun.

• End-of-Semester Study Breaks – Coffee, hot chocolate, and apple cider to recharge during finals week.

• Alumni Panels – Williams math alumni return to share their career paths, graduate school experiences, and lessons learned since leaving campus.

• REU & Summer Opportunities Workshop – Tips, resources, and peer feedback on applying for summer research programs and internships.

• Group Coffee Breaks – Informal meetups at Goodrich, Lickety, or Tunnel, offering space to connect in small groups.
