We are the Williams College student chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). The chapter was established in 2015. The Association's main mission is to "create a community in which women and girls can thrive in their mathematical endeavors and to promote equitable opportunity and gender-inclusivity across the mathematical sciences."
Our chapter is open and welcoming to everyone.

Williams AWM Student Chapter Receives 2026 Award for Scientific Excellence
The Williams College Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) has been named the 2026 winner of the AWM Student Chapter Award for Scientific Excellence. The national award recognizes the chapter’s efforts to foster mathematical research and strengthen connections within the regional mathematics community. AWM highlighted the chapter’s organization of the Williams College AWM Regional Symposium, which brought together students and faculty from regional liberal arts colleges. The chapter was also recognized for its follow-up Undergraduate Math Research Panel and for collaborating with other student organizations throughout the year to make mathematical research and the broader mathematics community more accessible to students from a range of backgrounds and interests.

Since our founding in 2015, we’ve hosted a variety of events to bring together students who love math, foster mentorship, and build community across class years. Some of our favorites include:
Since our founding in 2015, we’ve hosted a variety of events to bring together students who love math, foster mentorship, and build community across class years. Some of our favorites include:
Kick-Off Events – Our annual welcome gathering at the start of the year, where students meet new members, reconnect with friends, and learn about upcoming AWM activities.
Pre-Registration Socials – An informal space to share course advice, discuss professors and workloads, and enjoy snacks before signing up for classes.
Student/Faculty Dinners – An evening with math faculty where students can share a meal, hear professors’ stories, and build connections with mentors in a supportive setting.
Pi Day Celebration – An annual tradition featuring pizza, pies, and plenty of π-themed fun.
End-of-Semester Study Breaks – Coffee, hot chocolate, and apple cider to recharge during finals week.
Alumni Panels – Williams math alumni return to share their career paths, graduate school experiences, and lessons learned since leaving campus.
REU & Summer Opportunities Workshop – Tips, resources, and peer feedback on applying for summer research programs and internships.
Group Coffee Breaks – Informal meetups at Goodrich, Lickety, or Tunnel, offering space to connect in small groups.
