This live professional development session introduced K–12 educators to the power of Game-Based Learning (GBL) as a strategy to boost engagement, deepen understanding, and bring curriculum to life through play. I led participants through current research, practical strategies, and real-world classroom applications—including tools like Twine, Scratch, and The Variable Valley, a math adventure game developed by my studio, AdaptEd Labs.

This presentation gave me the opportunity to bridge my experience as a game developer and educator to help classroom teachers see how game-based learning can transform instruction. Preparing and leading the session strengthened my ability to communicate instructional design theory in a practical, teacher-friendly format—and reinforced the importance of designing learning experiences, not just lessons.
