Rules of Golf for MGA Events
Rules of Golf for MGA Events
Golf is a game that relies on personal integrity. That means in our MGA events every one of us is responsible to ensure the rules of golf are followed by all players. It is the only way we can compete on a level playing field. When you sign up for an MGA event, you are agreeing to abide by the rules of golf and remind your playing partners to do the same.
The Rules of golf that will be followed during MGA play are the basic rules of golf as written by the USGA. These basic rules are modified by our Local Rules and further modified by the rules of the day announced by the Committee prior to play.
Notes:
The rules of golf can be complicated. If you are in doubt about the application of a rule, you can call the Golf Shop and ask for a ruling or play two balls. If you decide to play two balls, record two scores and resolve the issue after the round with the Committee.
The Committee is comprised of the President of the MGA, or his designee, and the Director of Golf, or his designee.
The local rules are handed out to every group on MGA play days, are available in the Golf Shop and on the HOA website.
