COLONIAL HERITAGE GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES
as of Sep 2023
Out of Bounds – Defined by the line between the course-side points of large white stakes and/or the inside edge of orange construction fences.
Ball lost or out of bounds: alternative to stroke and distance, Model Rule E5 – The committee has adopted this optional rule which allows a player to take relief as designated by rule in the fairway, no closer to the hole with a two-stroke penalty, provided the ball is not in a penalty area and no provisional ball has been played.
Native Grasses – All native grasses longer than the primary rough are considered a red penalty area. The edge of the penalty area is defined as the line where the rough meets the native grass. The player may play the ball as it lies or take relief under Rule 17.1d under penalty of one stroke.
Animal Hoof Prints – Free relief is permitted per Model Local Rule F-13 and Rule 16-1b/c for a ball in an animal hoof print in the waste area on the 12th hole.
Drop Zones – Drop zones exist for all tee shots and/or approach shots across yellow staked hazards. The drop zones are all on the green side of the yellow staked hazards as well as the red staked hazards on one’s second shot on holes 5 and 16. Players may use these drop zones under penalty of one stroke excluding the gold tee on hole 16. On hole 16, players must re-tee and try again, then they may use the greenside drop zone playing their 5th shot. Drop zones will be marked by white paint. Holes affected: 4, 5, 6, 7, 13 (green and black tees), 14, 16, 17 and 18. The drop zone near the green on hole 13 is for approach shots into the green that go into the red penalty area left of the cart path. The drop zones are an option when one does not clear yellow staked penalty areas from the tee box and isn't an option for red staked penalty areas; except for holes 5 and 16 as noted above.
No Play Zones – ANY MULCHED AREA NOT DEFINED IN A PENALTY AREA. Players take free relief per rule 16-1b. Relief is one club length no closer to the hole.
Ground Under Repair – Areas on the golf course considered GUR will be identified with white paint. Free relief is in accordance with Rule 16-1b.
Bridges – All bridges are in defined penalty areas and are NOT considered immovable obstructions for purposes of taking relief. The player may play the ball as it lies or take relief under Rule 17 with a penalty of one stroke.
Irrigation Near Putting Greens – When a ball lies in a closely mown area within two club-lengths of a sprinkler head or other part of the irrigation system that lies in a closely mown area within two club-lengths of the green, the player may lift and drop the ball, without penalty, at the nearest point of relief.
