LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Music by Alan Menken
Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Directed by Juan Luis Torres
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the florist! The frighteningly funny musical phenomenon that scared up huge audiences on both the stage and silver screen is back at CCT! Little Shop of Horrors follows a hapless florist shop worker named Seymour, who pines after his co-worker Audrey while raising a special breed of plant, which he christens Audrey II. Seymour soon discovers that Audrey II has a taste for human blood, and as the foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore gets bigger and bigger, Audrey II brings Seymour fame, fortune and the girl of his dreams. But will it bring Seymour a happy ending? With music and lyrics by the writing team of Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors features one great tune after another (“Suddenly, Seymour”, “Somewhere That’s Green”) and has been devouring the hearts of theatergoers for over thirty years.
