DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE
by Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Melissa Boussard
Our two-play “Theatre on the Edge” Festival opens with a wildly imaginative comedy by one of the great modern playwrights, Sarah Ruhl. Dead Man’s Cell Phone follows Jean, a museum worker who picks up a ringing cell phone in a café. When she discovers that the cell phone’s owner is now deceased, Jean finds herself on a wild journey through this man’s life – one that involves his widow, his mother and his mistress – and even some possible criminal activities. Funny, unpredictable and thought-provoking, Dead Man’s Cell Phone explores the need for connection in today’s technologically advanced world that only seems to be picking up speed every day.
