Is your Wii not fun to use anymore? Do you wish you could get more from it? This guide is here to make your experience on Wii more enjoyable:
Flash games (this activity also applies to PC and PlayStation 3) - Albino Blacksheep, WiiArcade, WiiPlayable and Wiiscape are examples of Flash game websites that still work on the Internet Channel, the Wii's official internet browser. All four of those websites also work on PCs with Flash Player and all four of those websites except Wiiscape also work on the PlayStation 3 Internet Browser. By the way, the Flash games on those websites on PC, use the mouse or mousepad to move the mouse cursor and press the left click button to click. To play the Flash games on those websites on PlayStation 3, use the left analog stick to move the mouse cursor and press the cross (X) button to click. To play the Flash games on those websites on Wii, point the Wii Remote at the screen to move the mouse cursor to where the Wii Remote is pointing at and press the A button to click.
Legally get downloadable games and channels for free (some information about the Club Nintendo loyalty program is here, as well as some information about it's successor, which is known as My Nintendo) - The only way to do this today is for people registered to your Wii as a Wii friend to gift downloadable games and channels to you. However, thanks to the Club Nintendo loyalty program, which is no longer in operation, Club Nintendo members could be offered rewards if they collected points (sometimes referred to as "Stars" or "Star Points", the program is also commonly known as the Stars Catalogue; the North American Club used "Coins"), which could be gained by purchasing and registering certain first-party hardware and software titles by Nintendo. Points were also awarded for the purchase of cerain third-party titles and could also be obtained by participating in surveys, inviting others to become a Club Nintendo member or even simply visiting a website. However, Club Nintendo has been superseded by My Nintendo, which is still around today. According to https://my.nintendo.com, which is My Nintendo's official website, My Nintendo lets you get exclusive games, discounts and in-app items.
Play games - Some games are digital downloads (the GameCube, which the Wii is backwards compatible with, never officially supported digital downloads) and some games are on disc. If you want more games on your Wii than that without softmodding your Wii, you could go up to Flash games on this webpage and find a few Flash game websites that still work on Wii.
Install the Homebrew Channel on your Wii (also for Wii Mode on Wii U) - If you choose to do the softmod on any model of the Wii console (it doesn't work on the Wii Mini due to the Wii Mini's lack of an SD card port), https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/exploits/wilbrand is the best guide because it requires no game (in fact, I used it to softmod a Wii I had for not too long). If you choose to do the softmod on the Wii U's Wii Mode, here's a list of exploits that work on the Wii U's Wii Mode: http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/WiiMode#Working_exploits. Out of that list of exploits that can be done on Wii U, I'd choose to use Smash Stack because, to my knowledge (I haven't used Smash Stack yet because I don't have a 2GB SD card, which is the maximum size for an SD card that's compatible with the Smash Stack exploit), it's the only Wii software I currently own I can currently use on Wii U (including the included Wii Channels, such as Mii Channel and Wii Shop Channel) that can be used with any of the exploits mentioned at http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/WiiMode#Working_exploits that lets the Wii Mode retain all of its functionality.
Web browsing via the Internet Channel - It's not as good as it used to be due to not being up-to-date, but I still find it quite interesting to use the Wii Internet Channel.
