Host Community Experiences

During my host community visit, I did experience a wifi outage. This was a video I made on my phone documenting the experience.

The video above is from our visit to a Yanesha community in Chontabamba. The host shows us how the community uses resources from the land to create traps to hunt for food to eat.

We spent the day at a Yanesha community in Chontabamba. We participated in wearing traditional, cultural practices, games, and songs.

We spent a few hours visiting Casa al Revés (an upside down house) in Oxapampa.

A beautiful song sung by a grade 5 class at Coar Pasco.

A student plays a traditional Peruvian song on a Charango (similar to a ukulele). The song is usually sung around Christmas time in Peru.

Grade 4 students at Coar Pasco encourage us to sing along to the song "Contigo Peru". Everyone in Peru knows this song. It is an unofficial national anthem!

Kids are kids no matter where you are in the world! This sweet Peruvian girl was so excited to make a "6 7" video with me in Aguas Calientes, right before my hike at Machu Picchu.
