SimTEACHER is an immersive simulation that provides training for pre-service teachers to directly respond to various problem situations that may arise in school. Pre-service teachers and novice teachers learn how to deal with disruptive students and learn how to build more positive relationships with students.
Platform: Virtual Reality/ Augmented Reality
Scenario: 4 categories (teacher-student relationship, peer relationship, parent counseling, and other student maladjustment behaviors) (15 scenarios in total)
Feedback Function: ARM BAND (A dashboard attached to a virtual arm that provides student information), Performance assessment graph (Graphical visualization of users' classroom management performance)
Roles
Developed virtual reality based-simulation through Unity 3D, iClone, DAZ 3D, and Vuforia.
Designed and developed a performance assessment tool.
Categorized 4 categories of problematic student behaviors based on the theoretical background.
Developed 15 scenarios with in-service teachers.
Applied database through Firebase for collecting user data.
Evaluated learner affective states through a self-reported survey, eye-tracking analysis, and facial expression analysis.
