Hello!
I am so happy to have you in my class! I am so passionate about teaching Chemistry and I look forward to getting to know each of you.
I have been teaching at Ohlone College since 2015. I teach all General Chemistry courses (Chem 101A/B, Chem 102, Chem 109 and Chem 108). Prior to Ohlone, I taught at De Anza and Foothill College for 2 years. Prior to teaching, I worked in industry for 5 years as a research chemist at the chemical company Nalco, in Naperville, IL
I live in Fremont with my daughter, a cat and a dog. When I am not teaching , I might be doing yoga or simply driving my daughter around town to whatever activity she is participating in, or walking the dog. On the weekend, you can likely find me hiking the hills of the Bay Area with the kid and dog.
I graduated from Emory University with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude. After college, I spent 9 months in Berlin, Germany working in an Immunology Lab. At that point, I was determined to really learn how the world works at an extreme technical level, that I pursed my doctorate degree in Physical Chemistry at UCLA. FYI, I LOVE LA!! There may be several reasons why I love LA, one that pops out at me is how the place reminds me a lot of my home, Puerto Rico!
I hope you will will stop by during my Student Hours sometime during the semester. It is always nice to put a face with a name and share a little conversation as we get to know one another. If my scheduled hours do not work for you, just let me know and we will find a time that works for both of us.
Looking forward to learning with you this semester!
Dr. Weso
