Google Sites
For our interactive learning resource, we chose to use google sites as the main platform. We did this to fully utilize the other apps in the Google Suite workspace like google forms, which is the predominant method for learners to submit assessments, reflections, etc.
ChatGPT
The other main technology that will be used by students using our learning design resource is ChatGPT which can be accessed here. We chose to have students interact with ChatGPT directly so they can have their own experiences with the platform and learn first-hand about its possibilities and limitations. Furthermore, we chose this technology because it is free to access. Although students will have to create an account to use it, we felt that this was acceptable since ChatGPT is the focus of our learning design resource.
Mattermost
We chose to use Mattermost as the primary way for students to interact with each other and the instructor. This will allow learners to have private discussions with the instructor, have group discussions, and have the course instructor output announcements to all learners. It allows for a more interactive course experience by fostering discussions between learners. Many of the module activities require learners to either pair up or form small groups on Mattermost.
Khroma
In one of our activities in module 1.3 (Fine-tuning AI Language Models), students interact with the AI Khroma to see first-hand how AI models can be fine-tuned. We chose to use this platform because it is free for students to access and use. Additionally, this site does not require students to create an account.
Overall, the driving force for our technology decisions was reducing the paid barrier occasionally found on educational websites. We prioritized technologies that would allow our learners to fully interact with our learning design resource, without needing to spend money.
