Fall 2023 - Spring 2025
For the past 2 years I've had the pleasure to work with a 2nd-4th combination class at Golden Hills Academy in San Rafael (now Novato). The school is specifically designed to work with students who are on the spectrum, neuro-divergent, or have certain learning disabilities. It teaches from kindergarten to 5th grade. During my time here I've been able to work closely with the students and had even been able to interact with the other classes and work with their students as well. I've been able to create close bonds with many of the students and I consider myself very lucky to be someone they feel comfortable opening up to. Being here has shown me how each and every student really are different from each other and require different needs; that it's a whole process in getting to know your students and working your entire class on how to meet the different needs of each one. With that, I appreciate how hands on it is to be in this classroom/school.
During a rainy morning, we gathered together during recess to take a photo together from a camera brought by one of the students. (We got three new students this year!)
School sold baked goodies and seedlings all made and grown by the students in celebration of Earth Day.
Everyone gifted each other small trinkets and put them into goodie bags for each student--- I was lucky to recieve something as well.
