Apprentice Serious Game Designer, Immersive Factory
Founded in 2016, Immersive Factory is an french company specialized in the creation of VR serious games and simulations to train and raise awareness about risks at work.
VR EHS Sensitization & Training
Immersive Factory is a company specialized in developing VR simulations for companies around the globe. These simulations provide training and sensitization on subjects related to safety at work in multiple domains such as industry, public works, logistics (and many more). Immersive Factory maintains an important portfolio of various simulations which were mostly co-developed with well-known clients wanting to improve their safety culture.
As a Serious Game Designer, my job is to understand the needs of each clients and design a simulation adapted to their training needs.

My missions
Understanding the client's needs : This is an important phase at the beginning of each creation process where I have to make sure that I understand all of the clients needs regarding the simulation we are about to develop. I have to identify their real needs from the types of challenge they face in order to be sure that the product we are going to create will truly bring an additional layer of safety to the company we are working with.
Researches on the subject : Then comes a research phase on the subject of the simulation we are about to create to understand each of the risks that we aim to prevent, review the constantly evolving safety rules which serve as a reference for us or even to find and gather references for the teams responsible for development. During this stage, I may be required to have several online interviews with clients, assimilate technical documentation, visit reference websites or even make visits on the client's site to ensure the good immersion of the trainees in our future simulation. At the end, this process should make it possible to choose the most suitable approach to effectively train the trainees thus, the final form of the VR exercise that we will propose to the client.
Simulation Design : I am then in charge of designing the simulation for the client. Here, most of my work consists of writing and maintaining documentation for both the client and the development team that will serve as a basis to ensure that everyone understands the sakes of the simulation and how it works. In addition to the technical documentation, I am also in charge of multiple tasks depending on the type of exercise we agreed to develop: level design, user stories, system design, game design, etc.
Project owning : Once the project plan is accepted by the client, I participate in the pre-production phase and help the development and art teams understand the sakes of the project. If later during development it seems that one point has been misunderstood, if the development teams have questions regarding certain aspects of the simulation or if the client wants to add late modifications to the project, I am in charge of answering such points and ensuring that the global vision we have for the project is not disturbed.
Quality Assurance : In addition to Serious Game Design, I am also tasked with QA. I check the builds of each of our simulations on various VR displays (Metaquest 2, Pico Neo 3, Focus Plus) to make sure they are ready to be used by our clients. I try to find various bugs, reference them in our bug-tracking system and communicate with the development teams on the nature of such bugs to facilitate their bug-solving process.
