· Taught four sections of band to students grades 5-12, using varied teaching methods to provide differentiated instruction to students with a wide gap in abilities.
· Taught two sections of general music to students grades 2-5, using technology and standard teaching methods to give students a new way to listen to music, to expose them to music they have never encountered, and give them a foundation of music reading through the use of recorders and bucket drumming.
· Taught Jazz Band/Rock Band to students grade 9-12, using technology to teach different styles of music, provide a base of music theory knowledge, and give students a creative outlet through improvisation and composition.
· Gave students out-of-school opportunities for performance and learning by attending activities such as SVSU Marching Band Day, Tri-County Honors Band, and Thumb Friends of the Arts Band Festival.
· Built a culture of school spirit in Marching Band and Pep Band by having students lead chants and direct the student section to provide entertainment for the crowd as well as moral support to the teams that were playing.
· Wrote arrangements for the bands that took advantage of the ensemble’s strengths, and gave opportunities for learning that would not have been available with commercially acquired arrangements.

· Utilized technology in rehearsals and technology based learning days, which allowed the students learning to be connected to core curricula.

SVSU Music Ambassadors Program August 2014 – December 2016

· Provided one-on-one lessons and small group instruction to students, allowing the teacher to identify students above or below the average, and provide them instruction that was more consistent with their level of skill.
· Collaborated with teachers to provide the instruction they were looking for, combining their methods with mine to allow multiple modes of teaching, and reinforcement of concepts they otherwise wouldn’t be getting.
Marching Band Brass Technician August 2014 – November 2017
· Entrusted with the responsibility to effectively teach sectional rehearsals and marching techniques to full band.
· Motivate students to keep energy up through long and hot summer rehearsals, which allowed for constant productivity through a full day.
· Collaborate with other section technicians as well as directors to provide learning that is targeted to what the teachers want, and foster teamwork in the students by providing a positive example.

· Oversaw the complete overhaul and rebuilding of the Freeland Arboretum, including the installation of a blacktop walking trail, planting over 30 trees, and building and installing trail markers, benches and picnic tables.
· Earned 44 merit badges in various disciplines, from music to plumbing to shooting sports.
