This entry plan is meant to give an idea of the plans I have to create a smooth transition into the band program, for the students, staff, parents, community, and myself.
1) Establish strong relationships with students.
2) Build an open line of communication between the students and I, so that we can decide the direction of the band together.
3) Make few changes, and make them as gradually as necessary to not frustrate or confuse students.
4) Communicate my long-term goals, and gauge interest to decide what will be realistic to accomplish, and in what timeline.
5) Establish a feeling of family in the band, leaning on student leadership to help whenever possible.
1) Use the relationships that I have built in my student teaching experience, and build off of those to help instill the sense of family as soon as possible
2) Meet with students as soon as possible, starting with band leadership, then full band, then band and parents, to discuss my goals, and future opportunities to add. This will also be a great time to address any changes I see myself making, in an effort to make sure I am rocking the boat as little as possible.
3) Be in constant communication with staff and administration, with the intention of keeping my goals and actions clear and consistent with the direction of the school.
4) Conduct regular meetings with band leadership, so that I can make sure that things are going well constantly, and catch any issues or opportunities as soon as they arise.
5) Design contingency plans for any Covid-19 related eventualities that could come up, in an effort to be ahead of the game. These would be communicated with administration as well as ran by student leadership to maximize their effectiveness.
