Adjustments for Covid-19: No access to building.
Schedule will stay the same, sectionals and full band will take place underneath shaded areas TBD. Depending on weather rehearsals may go shorter due to excess outside rehearsal in the heat; that would be a game time decision. Marching times are set for the coolest parts of the day, and may need to be flipped if proper cooling tents for sectionals aren’t able to be found/procured.
Adjustments for Covid-19: Not able to meet in person.
Music and drill will be sent out electronically and/or through mail/lunch delivery, whatever has been the precedent at the school so far. Students will be attend a planning/informational Zoom meeting (or google if that is the schools preferred method) on Monday July 27th at 8:00-10:00am There will be daily playing assignments that will bear the grade associated with band camp, and serve to get the students as far ahead with the music as they can be, so that when it comes time for the students to meet and put it with drill, the drill will be the only thing we need to work on. Assignments will be due by 6pm each day, and will consist of varied playing tests from the music for the show as well as technical exercises meant to bolster skills needed for the show, and will be turned in in the form of a recording and/or writing response submitted via Google Forms, with individual critiques provided by the end of the day for use in the next day’s individual practice time. Drill will hopefully be able to be learned in after school rehearsals when school resumes in a normal way. Meetings will also be scheduled with band leadership (drum majors, band captains, and section leaders) to discuss whatever is needed at the time, and will be determined based on times those students are available.
Special Considerations
Tents- Possible rental of large event style tent to provide shade for the full band, and rental (or hopefully could borrow from band parents willing to lend them for the week) of 5 EZ-Up style tents for sectionals (gazebo at football field can be used for drumline, leaving 5 needed for the other sections)
Water- donation of water bottles will be arranged, and method of distribution will be determined by the CDC guidelines in place at the time of camp.
Water breaks- while not noted in the schedule, they will be given regularly and as the weather deems necessary. Hydration matters!
Possible Use of the Richland Twp Park- The pavilions at the park may be a good alternative to the tent rental, but come with their own issues, from transportation and travel time there to size restrictions due to social distancing.
