Protect the Safety and Welfare of Our Students

Our World Learning Academy
"A place where ALL student are welcomed and safe!"

The building administrators will work with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure the social-emotional, physical, physiology, health, and wellness of all students, off and online. Additionally, we will support a school environment that encourages and nurtures healthful eating habits and rigorous, varied, and fun physical activity. We will work collaboratively with families, community organizations, and business to improve the quality of health for students and staff.

In cultivating and student body representative of all families, we will include opportunities for students to learn about their history, the history of our country, and to acquire knowledge and experience cultures different from their own through culturally responsive teaching. We believe in the importance of character education and incorporating social and emotional strategies as a way to improve students' physical and emotional safety. "This includes fostering emotional support between peers and staff, preventing hate speech, and implementing programs that teach social and emotional skills such as conflict resolution, anger management, and positive communication" (AIR, 2020).

We will ensure that operational procedures for fire drills, emergency evacuation, internal and external lockdowns, tornadoes drills, early release, as well as arrival and dismissal from. Students will be monitored for safety while walking in the halls, eating in the cafeteria, during physical education and recess and on field trips.

Lastly, in an effort to prevent cyberbullying, we will monitor the online behavior and activities of all students to ensure they are adhering to the Acceptable Use Policy of technology.

Working With Parents & Community to Improve Student Learning

Our World Learning Academy informs and involves faculty staff, parents, community stakeholders, and business partners in the planning of services needed and offered at the school site. Our parents will support the academic achievement of their children and understand what an engaged parent looks like within the school: attend conferences and assemblies, volunteer, and participate in school activities and events.

The leadership team in conjunction with Partners in Education, Volunteers in Action, and Parent Teachers Organization committees will collaborate to discuss and determine ways to involve all community stakeholders, military, civic, religious organizations, and business partners in the academic success of the school.  In an effort to facilitate parental support at school, on-going communication will be established to keep parents/guardians and the community informed of upcoming activities through the school digital services; via mobile, websites, emails, and social media platforms. Additionally, students will take home flyers, monthly newsletters, and meetings, events, events, and activities will be posted in the school marque. Ongoing opportunities to volunteer and join forum and committees will be provided through other school year.

It is my belief that it truly takes a village to raise a child. From that perspective, I have always nurtured, developed, and treasured the partnerships of community and business stakeholders.
