By public transport
The train station of Maastricht is easily reached from major cities in the Netherlands by train (NS), from Belgium directly through the train station of Liège (NMBS), or from Germany directly through the train station of Aachen (DB). Maastricht is also well-connected in FlixBus routes. The workshop venue (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) is a 30 minute walk from the train station, or a 15 minute walk and a 15 minute bus ride.
By car
We can provide very limited parking at the workshop venue, please request this in advance. Street and underground parking in Maastricht is available but expensive. Several Park and Walk parking spots are available at affordable rates.
By airplane
The Maastricht-Aachen Airport is the closest airport (with limited flight availability). Eindhoven Airport is nearby but requires a bus connection to the train station and a 1h train ride. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has a direct train connection to Maastricht. KLM runs free shuttle buses from all these airports to the train station of Maastricht.
Zaventem Airport (Brussels) is directly connected by train to Liège, from which Maastricht can be easily reached. Brussels South Charleroi Airport, the cheapest option, requires a Flibco or FlixBus ride to Brussels and then two train legs to Maastricht.
Düsseldorf Airport is the closest German airport to Maastricht, and several routes run to the train station of Maastricht. Cologne Bonn airport and Frankfurt airport both have direct train routes to Maastricht, each running through Aachen.
Getting around Maastricht
Maastricht is relatively compact, and the center can be easily explored on foot. Arriva buses serve the city center. Bike rentals are also available at the train station (requires an OV card) or from Arriva (through the app).
Maastricht hosts hotels at different price points and has a good availability of Airbnbs. Towns nearby on the Dutch side can offer cheaper rates, and typically have good bus (and sometimes train) connections to Maastricht. Nearby towns in Belgium can be even cheaper, but public transport connections to Maastricht (De Lijn/TEC) are rarely available.
We can help you book a room at a more affordable rate through the university, but please request this as soon as possible.
Participation or presenting in the workshop is free. We also provide lunches and coffee breaks. Upon registration, we will ask for any dietary restrictions, but vegan options will always be available.
The workshop will take place at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The venue room is wheel chair accessible (elevator) and has accessible bathrooms on the ground floor. We do not provide a live stream or recordings of the workshop, but presenters are free to share their presentations or abstracts on this website after the conclusion of the workshop.
