Pottery
Mesopotamia, a historical region of Western Asia situated within the Tigris Euphrates river system housed the world’s first civilization with a culture which included music, art, and literature. The Sumerians of Mesopotamia founded the first cities, created writing, developed poetry, and created architectural structures to.the artwork to come out of this civilization is reflective of its history, who subject matter was heavily modeled by its nice structure, military conquests, organized.Beautiful and durable these artworks have and preserve the record of humanity, its concerns and beliefs, for generations.
The Sumerian Period introduced the rise of monumental religious structures. They constructed two forms of temple: a platform and a structure built at ground level. Platform temples originally stood within walled, oval enclosures. They contained priests. Those built at ground level were more rectangular, entered on the cross. They included an offering table, and for statues used during worship. (JL)
Jewelry
I have concluded so much about ancient jewelry! jewelry had many motifs. Most notably they used leaves, grapes, and twigs to make their Jewelry. A beautiful place called Mesopotamia was the birthplace of human civilization. It was one of the first places to produce jewelry!
Although these are ancient, luckily a Large quantity of Mesopotamian jewelry is still preserved today because of their tradition of burying and carrying jewelry into the afterlife. In conclusion Ancient jewelry is an awesome artifact and It is very important to history! (ME)
Cylinder Seals
Mesopotamia used something called Cylinder seals. Cylinder seals were impression stamps. Cylinder seals originated in the neolithic Period. But today many people call it the Syria period. They were made of glass, stone, and ceramic.

Math
Mesopotamian math was much different than math today. We use a base 10 system but the Mesopotamians used a system with 60 that involved how there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, and 360 degrees in a circle. Scientists believe the Sumerians developed this system. It has still not been found out why the Mesopotamians chose 60 for the base of their numbering but, people think there was an earlier system developed in 3200 B.C.
The Mesopotamians used math for 2 main things 1 being length and weight, they measured things such as tin and silver. The second way math was used was for multiplication and word problems. It was mainly used for teaching versus solving practical problems. The third way that Math is used is for Astronomy. It Is Used in astronomy by following the moon, stars, and other planets. (HM)
Astronomy
Mesopotamian was very helpful for mesopotamians in many ways back then. Astronomy in Mesopotamian was used for the study of celestial objects during the early history of Mesopotamia. The Mesopotamians focused on the Ziqpu stars. Ziqpu stars are constellations overhead. The Babylonians were the first to apply math to their astronomy predictions. The study of the sky in Mesopotamia led to the development of calendars and advanced mathematics. These calendars helped them with making calendars to help to tell the day of the week, the month of the year, and what year they were in. As you can see, Astronomy was very helpful to Mesopotamians back then. (HM)

Writing
In addition to the Mesopotamians developing the first civilization, the Mesopotamians also developed many other things used to help civilization. One of these helpful things that they created was the first form of writing. This was called cuneiform. Cuneiform started out as pictographs, which are pictures of things that acted as words. But as the mesopotamians got smarter overtime, they changed cuneiform into wedged shaped symbols on slabs instead of pictures. These wedge shaped symbols helped Mesopotamians a great deal with keeping records, and reflecting on other inventions. The reason why cuneiform was the most important invention made by Mesopotamians that helped future civilizations was because it helped us in ways by reflecting on what the mesopotamians did in their past so we could learn from them and experience what they experienced. Boats
The Mesopotamians invented all sorts of things for transportation, like wagons for themselves and for goods. They then discovered that there was a more efficient way of travel and transportation: sailboats. Sailboats were invented by Mesopotamians so that they could easily transport anything over the Tigris river, Euphrates river, and any of the canals. When Mesopotamians discovered that they could transport anything, they wanted to transport really big heavy things. So the Mesopotamians kept upgrading their boats with more flotation like inflated animal skins. When they added these to the boats, the sailboats could carry anything and everything. (SM)
