Amulet- this comes from the latin word, amuletum, which means an object that protects a person from trouble. This object could be an ornament (not related to a holiday); something to hold; or something that sits on a surface.
Mind-mapping- To write out a central idea or theme, and writing down all the ideas that radiate out from the original idea.
Thumbnails- A series of quick, short drawings (sketches), about 3 x 4 inches. They work as a drafting exercise; to explore a particular idea or composition.
