The Library Advisory Committee (LAC) of Shri Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalaya, Pune plays a vital role in the planning, development, and effective functioning of the central library. It acts as a bridge between library users and administration, ensuring that the library meets the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Objectives:
To advise on the formulation of library policies.
To assist in selecting and recommending books, journals, and other resources.
To ensure the optimal utilization of library facilities.
To promote awareness of library services among stakeholders.
Composition: The Library Advisory Committee is constituted as follows:
Chairperson: Prof. Dr. Vilas Patil -Principal of the College
Secretary: Dr. Priyanka Naikwadi- Librarian

Functions of the Committee:
Budget Planning: Recommends annual budget allocation for library resources and infrastructure.
Resource Selection: Guides the selection of books, e-resources, periodicals, and databases in alignment with curriculum and research needs
Policy Formulation: Advises on issues like circulation rules, membership, working hours, and use of digital services.
Development Activities: Recommends improvements such as digital library facilities, subscription to new databases, or physical infrastructure upgrades.
Monitoring & Feedback: Monitors the performance of library services and takes feedback from users to improve efficiency.
Meetings:
The Library Advisory Committee meets at least twice a year, and more often if required. The decisions and recommendations made during these meetings are documented and submitted to the college authorities for necessary action.
