Ursula's Fancy

Strathspey, 32x3, for 3 couples in three couple longwise set; easy. 

Devised 2022 in honour of my mother, Ursula. 

A dance for 3 couples in a longwise set, the 2nd couple starting on opposite sides.

The progression is 3,1,2

As the music lacks the usual two chords, the second couple should swap to opposite sides before the music begins.

There is a single chord at the beginning, for dancers to honour partner.

Bars

1-4 Taking hands in lines of three: all set.  1’s and 2’s dance right hands across half way.

5-8 1’s flow into left hand turn with 3’s (M1 with 3L, L1 with 3M) once round, flowing into:

9-12 ½ reels of three on the side: 1’s start facing up, right shoulder to 2’s.

13-16 In lines of 3 on the sides, advance for two steps and retire for two steps. Retain hands.

17-20 Circle left ½ way (all six dancers).  2’s and 3’s retain hands

2’s ending in the middle of the set facing down, (on opp sides)

3’s ending in the middle of the set facing up, (on opp sides)

1’s in 2nd place on own sides facing each other across the set

21-22 Whilst 2’s and 3’s set, 1’s change places RH across the set

23-24 All set

25-26 2nd lady changes places diagonally with 3rd man, ending on the sides (in 3rd lady’s and 1st man’s position respectively)

27-28 2nd man and 3rd lady change similarly,  (ending in 3rd man’s and 1st lady’s positions)

29-32 All turn partner both hands once round.

End 3/1/2 (1s in 2nd place on opp. sides) ready to repeat from new positions
