Duple minor, proper; easy; 2024
Inspired by a visit to the beautiful Cloudehill Gardens in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges. First couple set out to explore the gardens but quickly return to mingle with the others. Then all move out to explore, but again quickly return to mingle with their friends.
Music is Edna’s Waltz, 32 x7. The third and fifth tunes are Cloudehill Waltz and Gemini. All tunes composed and recorded by the dance devisor.
Step: waltz.
A MUSIC:
Bars 1-4: 1st couple facing up, the man crosses the lady in front of him. (2 bars). Turning inwards, 1s take nearer hands and face down.
Bars 5-6: 1s taking hands with the 2s to form a circle, balance the circle, one step in and one out.
Bars 7-8: Circle left ½ way. 2L and 1M retain hands. 1L and 2M let go hands.
Bars 9-12: Mirror back to back across the set : 2L and 1M (couple on men’s side) start between 2M and 1L
Bars 13-16: 2L and 1M starting OUTSIDE 2M and 1L, mirrored gypsies. (2s Rsh, 1s Lsh). End the gypsies on side lines facing out.
B MUSIC:
Bars 17-20: all taking hands with neighbour, dance out for 2 waltz steps, turning towards each other on the last step, and dance back in for 2 waltz steps.
Bars 21-24: All, giving RH to partner, balance and change places. (California twirl optional)
Bars 25-28: 1s dance ½ figure 8 up through 2s.
Bars 29- 32: All turn partner two hands, once round
Notes:
bars 9-12: Mirror back to back: this is right shoulder for 1s, left shoulder for the 2s.
bars 13-16: Mirror gypsies: this is left shoulder for the 1s and right shoulder for the 2s, ie the opposite way to the back to backs. All dancers end the gypsy facing out, to be ready to dance out in bars 17 and 18.
