Read questions carefully, highlight key things:
'at the start/end of the extract'
'features of melody/harmony' etc
Look at marks awarded for section A
3 marks means they want 3 key features
Get as many keywords in the essay as you can, show off, don't leave things in your plan
You can look ahead at the essay if you have time spare from another question, you know the familiar super well, you could make a start on some notes.
