George Bell Arena Closure Updates
Jan 20 update - we expect George Bell to be open in Early April, we will host Festival Games at George Bell and may also schedule games April 3rd thru the Festival at George Bell as needed.
Jan 10 update - we finalized the replacement ice on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night Jan 23 thru the end of March. Schedule will be published in chunks, with the first chunk coming out Jan 12th that will be games thru Feb 20th.
Jan 4 update - we have secured enough suitable replacement ice on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night Jan 23 thru the end of March. We will finalize which ice we will use this week and start publishing the schedule beyond Jan 23rd by Jan 13th. As it is a very manual process to build the schedule we may publish a few weeks at a time.
Dec 26 update - schedule release Dec 20th has been pulled back, and we have released a revised schedule thru January 22nd. Kindly check the schedule closely as many games were changed to ensure all teams received a fair share of games. Games removed will be placed later in the season as appropriate.
Dec 24 update - we have secured 7 hours of weekend ice per week (replacing the 10 hours weekly ice lost at George Bell) and are modifying the first 3 weeks of the schedule, there will be significant changes for some teams, others will not have changes. We will be removing the schedule thru March 24th and replacing with a schedule that runs to Jan 22nd as we are hoping to find mid-week ice over the holidays, once we have the full set of Winter ice confirmed we will re-build the schedule.
We expect the schedule thru Jan 22nd to be released by Dec 27th.
Dec 23 update - Schedule will be changing - George Bell Arena has been closed until atleast end of March
We have secured most of the ice required, however, the days of the week and locations are being firmed up.
Once the ice is firmed up we will re-work the schedule and will continue to post updates on estimated completion date here.
Please wait to book anything else as you may get games booked on any day you do not have a blackout at this point.
We expect GB Arena to be open in-time for the Festival in April. The building is deemed unsafe when more than 30cm of snow is on the roof, so will remain closed until the snow is done for the winter.
