- Schedule (Thru March 1st - Updated Dec 25th)
Key things to review in the schedule:
1) a few January games were changed to fix issues, please have TWO from your team review ALL your games to ensure you have the latest information, some were moved a couple hours, some cancelled, some added.
2) review the "Changed Games" sheet as a double check for what may have changed.
3) if you have a game change, it might be a good practice to remind the team you are playing to ensure they know too.
4) There are a few open slots in Jan and Feb, look in the "Exhibition" sheet to see them, let your club know if you can use them.
5) Timing for the remainder of the schedule being published is listed on the Key Dates page, if there are changes to those dates we will update that page.
Key things for the remainder of the season:
1) U7 and U8 will both be half-ice with small nets, please remind officials if they forget as there are hundreds of officials across the house leagues running our games and they deal with multiple formats and sometimes forget
2) U9 pilot ends Jan 9th, after that we run with regular rules on Jan 10th
3) encourage the refs to call penalties, we have had some refs who are either not comfortable calling them or feel they shouldn't be calling them, please encourage them in a friendly and respectable way before the game starts, or when appropriate during the game, calling penalties avoids rougher play later in the game
4) You can use players from any CDS/CDP team when you are short, just be sure they are appropriate for the team you are playing and consult with the opposing coach in advance so they prepare their team appropriately. Please mark (AP) beside any player not on your regular roster.
5) U9 games should be extended in the 3rd period as time allows such that you can shake hands and get off the ice by the end of the timeslot (i.e. if the slot ends at 8pm and the 2nd period ends at 7:37pm you can set the 3rd period for 20 minutes as you need to account for stop-time in the last minute, hand-shake, and getting off the ice). Again, not all refs and TKs know this, so remind them before the game if they don't mention it.
6) continue to send in the gamesheets as we need them for insurance purposes, Festival matchups/tiering, and monitoring logistics at rinks (some teams exchange rosters via email ahead of the game and the home team pre-prints the gamesheet with rosters filled in). Please remember to review the sample gamesheets for YOUR division and fill in ALL the required fields.
7) Any U7 teams looking for additional games, U7 Erindale just reached out wanting to join, will add games for them in any suitable open slots and moving forward. Check the contact page for their info, guessing tier 3, but could be tier 2.
8) We have had several teams join over the past month, and also had several reach out asking for exhibition games (their contact info also listed), please review teams listed around your tier if you are looking for additional games
9) Bonus games - if you are short, see point #4 above and reach out to other teams to fill out your roster to ensure you give your Opponent a good matchup.
Ice format listed in NOTES column of schedule (i.e. Cross-ice, 1/2 ice, 3/4 ice, Full-ice) Do NOT ask the Refs/Game Manager to alter the ice format
Note on U7 formats till end-December - games at Amesbury/IreneRisk/Weston will play 1/2 ice due to only boards being available so players will change from the benches. All other rinks will play cross-ice with bumpers and changing from the neutral zone.
