I completed an undergraduate degree in medical sciences at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on immunology and cancer biology. I then completed a medical degree (MB BChir) at the University of Cambridge, and have been working as a doctor since 2014 in various London hospitals. After gaining Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) in 2017, I started specialty training in medical oncology, and via an Academic Clinical Fellowship have gained both clinical and academic training. I successfully gained a Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellowship to complete a PhD at University College London under the supervision of Professor Charles Swanton and Dr Simone Zaccaria.
In my PhD, I have tried to better understand which cancer clones are most proliferative and whether this links to clinically relevant clone behaviours (such as metastasis). Specifically, my work has focused on developing a computational algorithm to estimate clone proliferation rates in the context of cancer evolution using single-cell whole-genome DNA sequencing data. In future, I hope to combine computational and clinical expertise in translational cancer evolution research.
