Middle School Resources

We know it can be hard to sort through the many lists of possible resources to use with students at home—and to figure out which ones will truly advance learning during this unusual time. To help educators and families, we’ve pulled from our top-rated programs to create a series of remote learning experiences that are high-quality, easy to use at home, and totally free.

We will provide free resources until July 1, 2020.

Welcome to Wonderopolis®, a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages. Each day, we pose an intriguing question—the Wonder of the Day®—and explore it in a variety of ways.

Wonderopolis was created by the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) in 2010, and it has become one of the most popular education sites today.

Study Island for Home enhances learning and helps your child master math, ELA, and science skills.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 we're offering 1 Year Free to new accounts.

Everyone learns in different ways. For the first time in history, we can analyze how millions of people learn at once to create the most effective educational system possible and tailor it to each student.

Our ultimate goal is to give everyone access to a private tutor experience through technology.

Join the "Wild and Crazy Kids" Reading Club. It's wild, it's crazy, it's free. Kids will wiggle and giggle as they devour thousands of “just right” books. With adventure in store kids will explore with the "Wild and Crazy Kids" as they dream and fall in love with reading.

This resource could work well with students who are not reading at grade level.

HowStuffWorks got its start in 1998 at a college professor's kitchen table. From there, we quickly grew into an award-winning source of unbiased, reliable, easy-to-understand answers and explanations of how the world actually works.

Our teachers and teacher–writers know it’s important for students to build knowledge every day, even when schools are closed. That's why we are providing knowledge-building resources here—written materials for math (Grades K–12) and daily instructional videos for English language arts (Grades K–8), math (Grades K-12), and science (Grades 3–5). We will post new video lessons and update our content daily. Continue checking this page for more free resources as we refresh our content.

As you play Freerice and answer questions right, advertisements appear on your screen. When you see one of these advertisements, you trigger a financial payment to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support its work saving and changing lives around the world.

In the game, these payments are represented via grains of rice. The amount of money generated when you see an advertisement can vary, but is roughly equivalent to what the World Food Programme spends to purchase 10 grains of rice.

WITF and PBS have curated FREE, standards-aligned videos, interactives, lesson plans, and more for teachers like you.

Even when schools are closed, you can keep the learning going with these special cross-curricular journeys. Every day includes four separate learning experiences, each built around a thrilling, meaningful story or video. Kids can do them on their own, with their families, or with their teachers.
