Findings and Analysis
Implications
The results showed that interactive activities significantly promote engagement and participation in both formal and informal education of the children. There is a strong external link with teachers, and E-HOPE staff with the parents and children with regards to accommodations, support, and resources. Modes of learning are adapted to any changes in schedules. These are due to hospitalization, scheduled check-ups, or effects of medication. Educational materials are also made accessible to families.
However, it is to be noted that children’s condition and client factors at certain times make educational performance difficult (i.e. fatigue and behavioral symptoms). These are managed by rest and nutrition, and so, the children are still able to perform school-related tasks. They are able to meet deadlines, focus on studying or learning, and are able to seek help when necessary. Participation in academic/formal education may be hindered by parent’s limited finances.
