The Mind-Body Medicine Group is designed to give you experiential practice with using your mind to influence the state of your body and using your body to influence the state of your mind. Each session will introduce a new "experiment" to do in the laboratory of your body and your mind. This way you get a felt sense of how each might influence your system and what might be useful to you.
Education on the human stress response, emotions, anatomy and the mechanics of breathing, physiology, mindfulness, trauma response and how to regulate your system is woven into the sessions.
The group process is confidential and meant to foster brave space for sharing. The process of being present for and being witnessed by others is a powerful and essential aspect of the groups.
Some activities or experiments used are:
Yoga movement/postures
Breathing techniques
Guided Relaxation
Guided Imagery and Visualization
Drawing
Journaling
Meditation
The groups are based on the training I completed with The Center for Mind Body Medicine. Please see their website for more information:https://cmbm.org/
