Some merchants support balance checks through your CashPass account. This service is provided by the merchants and beyond our control. If balance check is not an available option or does not work, simply go to the merchant's website and look for their gift card section on their website. They will often provide a check balance feature. As an alternative, most of our gift cards have a phone number or website printed on them that provides balance instructions. Further, if you are at the store, they should be able to pull up the gift card balance for you there as well.
When you purchase a digital gift card through CashPass, the charge on your credit card statement will show up as "BMG Inc" (Broadway Media Group, Inc.), the gift card partner. You will not see the name of the brand you purchased from.
No. Why would you though? Digital gift cards work exactly the same way and you can send them directly to a recipient's email address if you are giving it as a gift. Pinterest also has great ideas for gifting digital gift cards if you don't find them aesthetically pleasing. Most retailers (such as CVS) won't even allow you to use a digital gift card to buy a plastic gift card, so it's not worth trying. Instead, purchase the digital gift cards you need through CashPass, earn cash back on each, and then send them or print them and give them as gifts.
You can use the "Share" button next to any gift card in your Wallet to send a link to the digital gift card to anyone you want via email, text message, etc. Anyone with that link can display the digital gift card on their phone or computer and use the gift card (so be careful).
NO. Please check with your credit card issuer to determine what they consider to be valid forms of payment, but in general merchants will only allow gift cards to be used for redemption toward merchandise. We have had too many instances of someone trying to pay their Kohl's (or Lowe's or Macy's, etc) bill with a digital gift card, and then being stuck with that gift card. We want you to have a great experience, and this one is not fun. This message is also included in the terms and conditions of all of our gift cards.
Typically no, you do not. While some merchants still offer fixed denominations, most allow you to choose the exact value of the gift card you are purchasing within an allowed range.
Here are a few examples:
You want that new refrigerator at The Home Depot. You can enter any amount for your purchase up to $2000 in a single transaction. If your refrigerator is $2050.00, you could purchase one digital gift card for $2000 and then purchase another for $50.00. In this scenario, you could immediately apply the cash back you earned on the $2000 card to pay toward the $50 gift card you purchase, immediately reducing your out of pocket expense. Another option is to purchase two gift cards for $1025 each (use the QTY selector) in the same transaction.
If you want a couch at Macy's, you will need to purchase as many fixed denomination gift cards as needed to complete your sale.
We do try to notify you up front if there are special limits or circumstances on how many gift cards can be redeemed by a merchant in one transaction. For example, Delta Airlines only allows 3 payment methods (including gift cards) to be redeemed toward a single reservation.
Please read any terms or conditions up front, or feel free to ask us if you are not sure.
Why yes. Yes you can. In fact, you can even include the tip in your total and earn cash back on your generosity too! Our members order a digital gift card from the table after receiving their bill. If my check is $25.02, I can order a digital gift card for $30.02. Then I will write the digital gift card number and any pin number on the check and give it back to my server, letting them know that I am paying with a digital gift card. The server takes my check and applies my gift card. They will in most cases bring me back a receipt saying I have $5.00 left on the gift card, and I then write my tip for $5.00 closing out the check and the gift card.
Our partner, ShoppingBoss/Broadway Media Group, has direct relationships with the companies who distribute digital gift cards for hundreds of merchants. So when you purchase a digital gift card through CashPass, you are receiving a digital gift card that has come directly from the merchant partner. We do not re-market used or previously sold gift cards. This ensures that your digital gift card purchase is secure.
You may be worried about holding up the line with a cart full of items, trying to figure out how to purchase a digital gift card. Understandable! First, it's important to remember that delivery of digital gift cards is nearly instantaneous. Many users find it takes less time than waiting for your chip-enabled debit or credit card to go through or to fish the correct amount of cash & change from their wallet. Certainly, it takes less time than writing a check.
Here are two options:
As you get in line, have the app pulled up on your phone and ready to go with the merchant already displayed and ready to type in the amount you need. Get the total from the cashier, type in that amount, checkout, and the gift card will display instantly. You simply show that to the cashier who scans enabled gift cards or enters the gift card number.
Estimate! Gift card balances don't expire, so you can purchase a large value gift card at places you shop often, and pull the same gift card up every time you visit until depleted. If your estimate is low, you can still use a second payment method (like your debit or credit card, or even a store-branded charge card to get points!).
With either of these methods, you will earn cash back on the value of the gift card purchased.
A digital gift card is exactly what you likely suspect it is: it’s a gift card from the merchant delivered to you instantly in an electronic or digital format - instead of a pre-printed plastic or paper gift card. And you can spend it right away. If you prefer, you can think of it as “instant digital cash”, a “merchant specific e-cash code” or similar. We have taken the concept of being rewarded when you purchase a plastic gift card, and made it digital. The gift cards come directly from the merchants, and you earn cash back every time you purchase one.
