September 2, 2026 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  President Susie Mathews, Vice-President Shelley Crouch, Secretary Karen Bradford, Sharon Durham, Shawn Huisinga, Doug Stout, Librarian Gretchen Murphy, Friends of Casey Library, President Lyn Cochonour,

I.  Call to Order by President Mathews at 5:01 pm

    II. The Consent Agenda.

• August 2026 Financial & Activity Reports

• August 2, 2026 Minutes (corrections requested)

• Checks signed to pay bills

              Motion made to accept by Stoutin.  Motion carried

    III.  New Business, Librarian Murphy

1. Friends of Casey Twp Library: Lyn Cochonour, President

• Book sale is Labor Day weekend at “Under His Wings” on corner of Central & Main, on Friday, September 4th from 4-7 pm and Saturday, September 5th from 8:00-12 noon

• Volunteers’ setup the days before and advertised with signs in yards and postings on Face Book in advance.

• Books will be sorted, keeping popular authors for the next book sale.  Volunteers needed to haul books unable to use, to Charleston to have shredded.

2.  Imagination Library, Librarian Murphy

• Children continue to sign up. Enrollment changes monthly, since kids grow out of the program at 5 years of age, currently 107-122 as enrollment changes daily.

3. Programs & Upcoming Events, Librarian Murphy

• Mother Goose continues to fill up the area, Abby Solorio will return to work in October.  Tuesday Adult Bingo and home book deliveries are appreciated.

• Computer gaming will begin when school is back in session.

4.   Illinois Extension:  Librarian Murphy

• Poverty Simulation, FREE event is scheduled for October 21st at 6:00 pm at the Martinsville High School Media Center. 

• Jen Bishop is planning a workshop at Casey Twp Library, September 22, at 2:00 pm.  Event is pending.

5.   Promotional Material:  Crouch  

• Letter to accompany the flier needs to be proof read, and small changes to flier.

6.  Simpli Safe Security Company:  Librarian Murphy

• Technician was at library installing the equipment, which needed a separate password and designated internet line.  Technician will return when resolved by staff.

7.  Re-election for Board:  Librarian Murphy

• Mathews, Squires and Stoutin are up for re-election.  Signed petitions need to be turned in to court house between November 16 – 23 to get on the April 2027 election ballot.

IV.  Motion to adjourn at 5:35 pm.   Motion made and carried to adjourn.
