March 5, 2026 – Meeting Minutes

Attendance:  Karen Bradford, Shelley Crouch, Susie Mathews, Chrissy Squires, Librarian Gretchen Murphy

I.  Call to Order by President Mathews, 5:07 pm

II. The Consent Agenda.

• February 2026 Financial & Activity Reports

• February 5, 2026 Minutes 

• Checks signed to pay bills

Motion by Bradford and seconded by Crouch, motion carried

III. The Consent Agenda.

1. Friends of the Library Update, Librarian Murphy

•  FCTL elected officers during their February 2026 meeting 

• President:  Lynn Cochonour        - Secretary:  Amy Mullen

• Vice President: Hannah Todd     - Treasurer:  Stacey Nichols

• Board Members:  Tom Daughhetee, Leslie Duniphan, 

2.  Imagination Library, Librarian Murphy

• Currently, 91 are enrolled in the program.

3. Programs & Upcoming Events, Librarian Murphy

•  Summer Reading Program theme: “Plant a Seed, Read”

• Ongoing programs:  Adult Bingo on Tuesday with Renee, Chess Club on Wednesday, Mother Goose on the Loose (15 attended recently plus adults)

4. Building Expansion Discussion, Librarian Murphy

• Question discussed:  Is there a benefit being associated with The Illinois Historical Library Preservation Society

  • Compliance benefit when Grant writing

•  Discussion on replacing window in existing building as a necessary upgrade during construction.

• Benefit of getting a Bond for construction, and the penalty in regard to other grants, and grant library currently qualifies for. 

5.  Financial Business, Treasurer, Squires

•  The 1 year CD is up for renewal.  A grace period of 10 days before agreeing to renew on interest rate offered

• Report on the interest rate at the April 9, 2026 meeting
