Blue Knights JROTC Cadets technology based training through field trips agencies in the Baltimore/Washington area. The unit is responsible for providing chemical, biological, and nuclear identification, containment procedures, and recommends response measures to governmental and local agencies.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets conduct environmental activities in the on-site wetlands near Fort McHenry with the National Aquarium staff, working to reconstruct the wetland and create a fully functioning marsh by promoting regular, natural tidal flooding, controlling debris accumulation, and enhancing the habitat. Additionally, the Battalion conducts Community Service Projects focused of clean up of communities around Baltimore.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets participate in the yearly Navy Fleet Week held in Baltimore. During the experience, Cadets tour past and present naval vessels, receive instruction on naval propulsion and navigation, and experience naval life aboard a ship.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets conduct a history tour and talk of the Fort McHenry historical site by a National Park Service ranger, environmental activities in the on-site wetlands with the National Aquarium staff, and an on-water tour of the wetlands and Fort McHenry in tandem kayaks. Additionally, the Cadets tour the Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Fort Myer Twilight Tattoo event.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets conduct kayaking twice a year in the Chesapeake Bay by Fort McHenry. Students conduct a history talk by a National Park Service ranger, environmental activities in the on-site wetlands with the National Aquarium staff, and an on-water tour of the wetlands and Fort McHenry in tandem kayaks.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets visit the Maryland Army National Guard Aviation Brigade each year as part of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) month. AS part of the experience, Cadets learn about aviation and flight, maintenance of aircraft avionics and equipment, and experience aviation flight simulations.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets conduct robotics training with various agencies in the area and also with school programs. In the near future, the program will expand to include drones and a JROTC Robotics Club and competition team.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets have a number of opportunities to expand their knowledge through the use of vehicle and aviation simulations. Students gain valuable knowledge and experiences while also having fun.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets conduct 1st aid training as part of their curriculum but also gain knowledge through interactions with healthcare providers, 1st Responders, and practical events. Additionally, Students can become trained and certified in CPR and 1st Aid and may compete in the Regional SkillsUSA competition.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets gain experience in state of the art communications equipment during field trips throughout the year. Students are able to interact with Communications Experts, experience satellite and radio equipment, and learn about the various methods for using the equipment.
Blue Knights JROTC Cadets visit the National Cryptologic Museum located next to the NSA. Students learn about the impact of cryptology on history and jobs in the field. The tours are led by experts in the field who are retired NSA employees.
