The Blue Knights Color Guard represents Carver Vo-Tech high school and the Blue Knights Battalion at many veteran's presentations, parades, high school/professional athletic events, graduations, and other official events throughout the year. Cadets can compete in Color Guard competitions held throughout the year.
The Blue Knights JROTC Battalion has both Drill and Exhibition teams that participate in numerous local and regional drill competitions. The teams train after school in preparation for drill competitions. The Blue Knights Color Guard also competes during the drill competitions.
Raider Competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the country. Events take place outdoors and usually consist of individual strength test (push-ups, tire-drag, obstical course, etc), distance team running events, first aid events, and some form of rope bridge contstruction/crossing.
The Toughest Team competition in a physical and confidence event that provides Cadets an opportunity to practice leadership and followership skills through a physically challenging, team-oriented, obstacle course. The event promotes esprit de corps, teamwork, and self-confidence among JROTC Cadets and contributes to the Wellness/Fitness objectives of each of the services’ JROTC programs.
SkillsUSA is a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. Carver Blue Knight Cadets participate in the CPR / 1st Aid and Community Service Briefing competitions each year, displaying their skills and competence in the regional and state competitions.
Teams of Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets from across the country can participate in the Army JROTC Academic and Leadership Bowls. The benefits of participating include improved SAT/ACT scores, increased interest in college admissions, increased leadership skills, hands- on and interactive learning, and relating leadership skills.
The programs begin with two online preliminary rounds with each JROTC unit competing against other units from around the world. The top placing teams (24 Academic teams and 40 Leadership teams) are selected to participate in the Championship.
The JROTC Academic Bowl tests Cadets on their knowledge by using SAT/ACT-type questions in the areas of JROTC curriculum, English, math and science. One of the main goals of the JROTC Academic Bowl is to prepare students for state exit/graduation exams as well as college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT.
The JROTC Leadership Bowl tests Cadets on their knowledge by hands- on and interactive learning. One of the main goals of the JROTC Leadership Bowl is to challenge students to think outside the box and encourage them to discover and utilize their leadership styles.
Teams are comprised of 6 Cadets (4 primary and 2 Alternates) for each team. Seniors can not be on the teams and Cadets can not be on both teams. Freshman can not be on the Leadership Team.
