There are numerous activities going on all around the ship throughout the day and evening. You can read about upcoming activities and slated times and locations for these events in the ship's newspaper, the Princess Patter , your daily guide to life at sea, which is delivered to your stateroom each evening by your room steward. You can also browse and bookmark entertainment and activities on your Princess Cruises App on the JourneyView page or on any of the MedallionClass™ Digital Portals located near all elevators. The Wake Show is broadcasted from the Princess Live venue each morning and features the ship's Cruise Director and guests outlining the day's entertainment and activities. This show can be viewed live on your stateroom TV or on the big screen on the Lido Deck (17). A recording of the show can also be viewed each day on your stateroom TV.
With so much going on you'll never be able to do it all. Also, with so much variety offered there is bound to be something that suits your lifestyle or current mood.
The activities listed below are in addition to the wide variety of entertainment that is typically being offered throughout the day and evenings on the Sun Princess. You can usually always find some sort of entertainment being held in the Piazza area when the ship is not in port.
Take a dip in any of the five sparkling freshwater pools and leave your everyday world behind. Unwind on a padded lounger and soak up the sun, catch up on reading, listen to live music or dream of your next adventure on board or ashore. And what better way to relax and revitalize after a day exploring the world than a long soak in one of the whirling hot tubs. And don’t forget, there is always a server nearby to bring you a favorite beverage.
Around the midship area pools on the Lido Deck (17) midship you will also find Movies Under the Stars®, hilarious pool competitions, world-famous pizza, live music, and even complimentary soft serve ice cream and two large pools and the numerous hot tubs that surround the pool areas and their upper decks lounge areas.
On the stern of the ship on Deck 8, the Wake View Terrace offers an infinity pool transparent glass walls that offers a unique and relaxing place to unwind and watch the wake of the ship. And since this area can be difficult to find, you may end up grabbing a comfortable lounger in this area. Be aware that the starboard side of this area has a smoking area.
If those two areas are busy with youngsters, you can also sneak away to the Sea View Terrace area on Deck 17 at the bow of the ship for a more quiet time without any kids running underfoot. This small outdoor pool also connects to the inside pool in The Dome !
The Sanctuary Pool area is exclusively for Sanctuary Collection Suite guests and is located on Deck 18 aft. You can however, get access into this area for $79 per day (per person) on port days and $99 per day (per person) on sea days.
A pet peeve found around pool areas, especially during sea days, is that many people will go and put beach towels, and perhaps some personal items, on loungers to "save" them for later use. The rules state that loungers cannot be saved, and if they are unused for more than 30 minutes the deck attendants have the right to remove their belongings. I will typically find my spot (and a spot for my wife) early and may eat my breakfast sitting in my selected lounger and my wife will find me later using the Princes Cruises™ App. The Sun Princess however appears to have a lot of space for loungers on Deck (18).
This luxurious spa-inspired multi-tiered top deck retreat, is reserved just for adults (ages 16+). Located at the bow of the ship on Deck 17 this area features plush lounge furniture arranged on a multi-tiered layout with glass paneled walls to break the sea wind. This is a great get away location to relax and has some more comfortable padded loungers, seats, and couches.
This area is similar to the Sanctuary area found on other Princess ships which typically require a reservation and fee. This area however is free to use on a first-come-first-served basis.
Located on Decks 5 and 6 midship, the Lotus Spa features a wide range of treatments. Deck 5 consists of relax rooms, massage rooms, showers, and change rooms. Deck 6 is "The Enclave" grouping a thermal suite, hamman/oriental steam rooms, caldarium/aroma steam rooms, laconium/sauna, aromatic sensory showers, hyrdo-therapy pool, and change rooms.
The Lotus Salon is located on Deck 18 midship and offers manicures, pedicures, hair services, and a wide variety of salon services. The spa and salon operate "a la carte" where over 50 different services can be booked separately thus allowing you to customize your own perfect spa day (or days).

Additional charges apply.
Even if you never plan on using these services we suggest that you at least take a tour of these facilities on embarkation day just to see what all is offered. Typically the more services you book, the bigger the discount.
Located on Deck 19 midship, the initial vison of the "Park 19" area was a three-story, open-deck family zone and included attractions like the Rollglider, Coastal Climb, and Ropes Course. These attractions never opened and were removed within the first six months of sailing. The area was renamed "Skydeck Sports Court and Track" and is geared toward more physical, entertainment, or just a relaxing area where parents can watch their children play. It is unclear what Princess has planned for this area in the future.
Current activities in this area include:
Infinite Horizon: A space with leaning tilt glass walls which cantilever over the side of the ship allow you a view nearly straight down to the water below.
Splash Zone: An area with pop jets and a water sculpture (unsure if this is operational)
Recreational Court: A multifunctional area with games like cornhole, ping pong, shuffleboard, large checkers/chess, fitness classes, and morning meditation, a rotation of sports and wellness options will be offered to guests. The court is small but is used for basketball and for pickleball play.
Jogging Track: An open air jogging track (7 laps equals 1 mile) gives you some place to burn off those calories you are consuming.
Hammock Area: A seating area with hammocks and comfortable chairs.
These activities are free.
The Fitness Center, located on Deck 18 midship and overlooking the main pool area offers exercise and spinning courses, free (dumbbells up to 75 pounds!) and machine weights, treadmills and ellipticals with ocean views and more to energize yourself while on your cruise vacation. This space is somewhat small compared to other Princess ships but it is really not used much so you rarely have to wait to utilize a weight machine, bench or cardio machine. They also offer consultations with personal trainers to address fitness issues you may have.
There may be additional charges for some training and consultation services.
While you may not be a high roller, or even roll at all, just be aware that there is a casino aboard the ship on Deck 8 forward that offers a variety of Las Vegas style gambling games (only when the ship is located within international waters).
While smoking was banned during the COVID pandemic, smoking is now allowed in the casino on most nights which is too bad. You may want to walk through the casino to get to the upper level of the Princess Arena.
Yes, I guess some people may consider shopping a fun activity. Onboard the ship you’ll find a fabulous range of fine merchandise at the Shops of Princess with 5,800 square feet of shops located on Decks 7 and 8 midship with brands like Swarovski, Chanel, Estée Lauder, Clinique, Lancôme, Calvin Klein, Citizen and Tissot, plus local crafts, keepsakes, and souvenirs. There are also some clothing stores with reasonable prices. And everyday tax- and duty-free savings can add up to as much as 30% off suggested U.S. retail prices.
All purchases are made with your OceanMedallion and these charges are then transferred to your onboard account which is paid for by your registered credit card.
Learn how to prepare the gourmet specialties served on board in the Princess Arena or in the Princess Live venues plus other enrichment lectures are offered onboard from time to time. Some are free, others you may have to pay for.
Princess also will offer informational talks about upcoming ports of call, explaining their culture and port excursions that you may be interested in booking. If you're unsure of what type of excursion to do, these may give you some ideas to consider.
Cruisers often bring rubber ducks on cruises in an effort to have a bit of fun by hiding them throughout the ship. The ducks usually have information cards attached to them bearing the names of the people who hid them and where they are from. If you find a duck, you are encouraged to post a photo of the duck on social media. There are several Facebook groups devoted to this with some having over 300,000 members from around the world.
You can keep the duck as a souvenir of your voyage or hide it again for someone else to find. Don't place the ducks in pools or shops. The reason for the shops is you don't want someone to think that people are taking something out of a shop without paying for it.
Of course this fad has also produced a new market for custom cruise ducks and labels.
While enjoying your cruise, you'll be visiting some of the greatest destinations in the Caribbean and seeing some of their most famous sights. Yet one of the more amazing marvels that you'll encounter on a journey is right under your nose - the ship itself.
It's a massive undertaking to get the entire ship working day-in and day-out, as these ships are virtually floating cities. There are a wide variety of cruise activities for you to engage in while onboard, but there are large parts of the ship that you'll never get to see - unless you take the Ultimate Ship Tour.
A first time innovation in the cruise industry, the Ultimate Ship Tour will allow you a special behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day operations of a truly seaworthy vessel. You'll be able to see the ship's engine control room, food galley, laundry, photo lab, back stage area, medical center, bridge and many more exciting spots that you might otherwise not even know existed on the ship.
It's all capped by a meeting with the ship's captain on the bridge of the ship, who will discuss some of the challenges of managing a massive ship and crew. Refreshments will be provided, and you'll be able to take in the gorgeous views from the ship's bridge.
The tour is offered only on some sea days and allowable number of guests is limited to 12. The tour lasts about 3 hours and costs $150 per guest. This is on our bucket list.
On one of our cruises we had the honor of being invited by the Captain to view the bridge which was one of the highlights of our cruise!
During the pandemic the ship tour was discontinued and we are unsure when, or if, it will return.

So what if you want to bring your children or grandchildren on this cruise or on a future Princess cruise? Are there things for them to do on a Princess Cruise ship? As mentioned, the Princess Cruise ships will not have the water parks, climbing walls, and other attractions of some mainstream cruise lines. However all kids love a pool and there are three of them to enjoy onboard plus other activities outlined on this page they could do with you, in addition to many port excursions and entertainment options.
Even with that being said, I honestly would recommend that if you want to bring children or grandchildren on a cruise consider a Disney or other mainstream cruise lines with more amenities geared to children and teens to enjoy rather than a Princess Cruise which is focused more on an older demographics of passengers.
However, Princess does make it easy to sail together in comfort. There is a wide selection of staterooms accommodating up to four guests, and you’ll enjoy substantial savings on your third and fourth guests. There are also connecting stateroom options, as well as Two Bedroom Family Suites, with room for up to eight guests, which offer more living space, a balcony and two bathrooms, including a full bath tub.
Your family could enjoy many of the same entertainment and activities as you or you could enroll them in areas designed especially for their age groups. And while you're out having fun ---- so are they! These kid and teen center programs are included in your cruise fare.
However, some of the planned activities might not fit into our shared beliefs or involve activities that we, as parents or grandparents, may not feel comfortable with. The choice is yours.
Hours of Operation: Sea days 9:00 am to 12:00 pm | 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm | 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Port Days 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Depending on the itinerary, port hours may be expanded. Check the schedule once onboard. The Program is complimentary during port days and advanced bookings are not required.
These areas are "Kids Only" so you won't find other guests having access to these areas. Only parents or guardians are allowed to drop off or pick up their children from these centers.
Baby sitting is also available during the evenings for a charge.
