Test Prep Through CMS

CMS also offers test prep for the ACT, ACT WorkKeys, and SAT through Edgenuity Courseware. The Virtual Tutor course offerings are customized into smaller, concentrated categories or strands that allow students to experience greater flexibility over what is assigned. The courses are designed to provide an “on-line tutor” for students; as a result many of the options are enabled to make the courses self-managed by students. Each library's College & Career Connections Team offers free college and career-related programming, such as practice SAT, presentations by College Foundation of NC on paying for college, mock interviews for teens, help with scholarship searches, service opportunities and more. CLTRising is a tutoring (SAT, ELA, math) and college planning program that provides services to help high-achieving, low-income students gain opportunities to pursue their dream career path and a college of their choice.

Who should apply?

This program is for you if:

• You are a rising junior who is a high-achieving, hard working student.

• You are willing to put in some extra time and effort to reach your educational goals.

• You want to improve your academics at school.

• You want to boost your SAT scores in reading/math.

• You want to receive personalized guidance through the college application, scholarship and essay writing process.

• You are eligible for free/reduced lunch and/or your family receives a lower income.

What services are provided?

• One-on-one academic tutoring with a focus on English, math, and SAT prep

  • Reading comprehension, grammar, and math skills

  • Test-taking strategies

  • Homework assistance

  • Individualized support in the college application process
