CLTRising is a tutoring (SAT, ELA, math) and college planning program that provides services to help high-achieving, low-income students gain opportunities to pursue their dream career path and a college of their choice.
Who should apply?

Project Uplift is a special program that enables high-achieving rising seniors to experience college life on Carolina’s campus. Project Uplift seeks to engage participants in an immersive, two-day experience that connects them with UNC-Chapel Hill and other four-year colleges and universities. Participants live on campus, interacting with faculty, staff and current students, participating in educational, cultural and social activities, and learning about admissions and college affordability. Project Uplift allows participants to experience the academic rigor and social climate of a top-ranked four-year institution. Project Uplift is designed to allow students to experience learning in a variety of different university contexts, from large lectures to small seminars and, most important, from the interactions with current Carolina students.
Uplift PLUS is an intensive, 5-week summer academic enrichment and college readiness program for Project Uplift participants. This program is only for NC residents. During the program, participants live on campus, attend SAT/ACT coaching sessions and take English 100 (3 credits). Participants also engage in college application prep, research, leadership development, as well as a wide variety of experiential learning opportunities. Students must attend Project Uplift to participate in Uplift PLUS. There is no separate application for Uplift PLUS. Students must indicate on their Project Uplift application whether they would like to be considered for Uplift PLUS.

Our High School Series program is a multidisciplinary approach aimed at lessening the graduation gap, increasing higher education access, and preparing youth for the workforce. Love1st has launched a program named Wizdom to tutor elementary school students in the CLT area who are considered at risk. Specifically they are focusing on tutoring 2rd-5th graders. They are looking to offer students in the 10th-12th grade, who are accelerating in their scholastic careers to volunteer as a tutor/mentor within our program. This is a great opportunity to add on your resume, for volunteer hours to add to your college application, or just the life experience of helping others and assisting the next generation of learners! Plus, volunteer hours are flexible.
Year-Up is a year long job-training program for students interested in software development, cyber security, or business operations. Participants take classes for six months, and then participate in an internship for six months. The program is free for students that have work authorization and has fall and spring start dates.
Road to Hire Apprentices earn $525/week in a rigorous six-month training program, after which they transition to high-earning careers with premier Charlotte employers like Bank of America, Red Ventures and Atrium Health. There are apprentice opportunities in coding and cyber-security. No GPA Requirement!
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for our Apprenticeships program:
High school graduate or GED
Live in the Charlotte, Austin, Atlanta or Richmond metropolitan areas
Must be between the ages of 18 and 25
Must have the authorization to work in the U.S.

Here is a great summer opportunity for those interested in pursuing business and entrepreneurship at the college level. The TMCF Fleischer HBCU Scholars Program is a FREE four-week-long hybrid experience for future business students hosted by Fayetteville State University. The program provides high-achieving juniors, who will be graduating from high school in 2023, the opportunity to experience college life, entrepreneurship, and business. Students are not committed to enrolling at Fayetteville State University at all as part of the program, it is simply an experience.

The College LAUNCH for Leadership Program is a free nine-month college prep, social justice, and leadership development program for high school juniors (current sophomores) in Winston-Salem, Charlotte and the surrounding communities. Our program primarily serves students who have been historically excluded from higher education.
Scholars will learn what it takes to break down the doors to higher education, build lasting relationships with students in their community, develop a critical understanding of historic and ongoing social injustices within their communities, and further grow their leadership skills.
Students who will be juniors during the 2022-2023 academic year are eligible to apply for our 2022-2023 program. Additionally, applicants should be from Winston-Salem, Charlotte, or the surrounding communities, as Scholars are expected to attend monthly in-person events at their regional Wake Forest University campus (Winston-Salem Main Campus or Charlotte Campus).
UNCG CHANCE is a unique experience that provides Latino/Hispanic high school students with the opportunity to engage in intensive, four-day college readiness. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with university faculty, students, and staff to develop a peer/professional network that forges positive and healthy mentorship connections focused on academic success and personal growth. During a creative combination of days, students will experience a “day in the life of a college student” by:
· Attending class
· Learning about financial aid applications and literacy
· Learning about campus organizations
· Doing sports activities
· Having cultural experiences
· Doing team-building activities
· Learning about civic responsibility
· Staying overnight in campus dorms.

AlumniAdvisors is a program where high-school students (juniors and seniors) are matched with college students and alumni around the world from schools including UNC, Duke, Oxford, Harvard, UCLA, Yale, and others – to discuss topics such as college application, extracurricular activities, high school courses, balancing life, and college life. Students will have the opportunity to have 1:1 Zoom meetings and contact with these college students/alumni to discuss high school and college, set goals for their school year, and/or receive college application and essay feedback free of cost.
Requirements:

Economically disadvantaged (i.e. Your family qualifies for free or reduced priced meals from school)

The Rise to Success Initiative is a program that enables high school graduates to earn an Associate degree in a healthcare-related discipline from a local community college and obtain an entry-level, part-time position at Atrium Health. Atrium Health will pay for participants’ tuition, books and related fees. Participants are expected to work for Atrium Health for the duration of their college career and an additional year after completion of their Associate degree and are encouraged to earn their Bachelor’s degree upon program completion. Participating individuals will have access to a Career Coach who will support their academic and work success throughout the program.
Eligibility Criteria and Requirements:
Graduated with a high school diploma and 18 years of age as of July 1, 2022
Minimum 3.00 GPA (unweighted)
Good high school attendance record
Must complete and submit all required application materials, including essay questions
Applications for prospective Junior Volunteers who want to volunteer at Presbyterian Medical Center and Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital during the Summer of 2022 are now available! If you know of someone who would like to be a Junior Volunteer this summer – your child, grandchild, neighbor, etc. – please have them to apply as soon as possible. Junior volunteers are eligible to participate in the program if they have completed 8th grade and are at least 14 years of age. The student may continue in the Junior Volunteer Program through the summer following their high school graduation. We are looking for mature students who can make a commitment to 3 hours per week for at least 6 weeks of the summer program. This year’s program will begin on Monday, June 20th and run through Friday, August 12th, with two weeks allowed for vacation.
After the completed online application is received by Volunteer Services, we will email the applicant the following forms: two teacher/guidance counselor recommendation forms, parent/guardian consent form, media consent form, service area request form, immunization history form, and healthcare worker TB questionnaire form. In order to be considered in the selection process, all forms mentioned above must be submitted to the Volunteer Services office by Monday, April 18, 2022.

We are from Catalyst Conference, a UNC Chapel Hill organization that hosts an engaging weekend conference for high school students to learn about social justice and college life while participating in workshops, activities, and hearing from speakers. We are excited to announce that the application for UNC Catalyst 2023 is now open! The conference is planned and run exclusively by UNC undergraduate students. We engage students in social justice topics through workshops, guided discussion, and activities. Our conference delves into prevalent social issues and equips students to better address injustice in their communities. Ultimately, we aim to prepare students to become lifelong leaders and advocates for change
There will be students from throughout North Carolina. It will be a fun weekend and a great opportunity to meet more people!
