Cynthia Aracena is a Dominican American author, independent publisher, and storyteller based in Miami, Florida. She began writing stories at the age of fifteen, originally creating them for her own enjoyment. Although she believed in the worlds and characters she created, she never imagined that anyone else would be interested in reading them.
Nearly twenty years later, a close friend asked to read one of Cynthia’s manuscripts. After becoming deeply invested in the story, her friend encouraged two other people to read it and told Cynthia, “If they like the story, I want you to publish it.” Their reactions were the same: the story deserved to be shared.
That encouragement gave Cynthia the confidence to begin her journey as a published author.
On December 28, 2012, she released her first novel, A New Broom Sweeps Good. In 2014, she published In a Haitian Woman’s Skin in both English and Spanish. In September 2015, she introduced her fantasy series The War for a Soul with its first installment, The Curse of the Demon. In 2016, she published El Bendito Viernes Santo, the first novella in the Spanish-language mini-series Complicaciones de la Vida de Luis Fernández.
Since then, Cynthia has continued expanding her catalog across multiple genres, writing stories shaped by love, culture, family, identity, resilience, faith, fantasy, and the complicated realities of everyday life.
When asked why she loves to write, Cynthia says:
“Writing is my passion, and it is something that comes naturally to me. Everyone has a story to tell. We all daydream and fantasize about something. I like to live my fantasies through stories—it is the only time I can forget about the world and make my dreams a reality. If I can move one person, make them smile, laugh, or cry while reading my stories, then it was all worth it.”
As a Dominican American writer, Cynthia brings a multicultural perspective to her work. Her stories frequently explore the intersections of romance, family, cultural expectations, faith, identity, tradition, and personal freedom.
Inspired by her experiences, travels, imagination, and family history, she creates emotionally layered stories featuring strong protagonists, complicated relationships, cultural conflict, and vivid settings that transport readers into different worlds.
Through Cynthia’s Book Club Publishing, Cynthia is also committed to creating and promoting diverse stories that reflect voices and experiences often overlooked in mainstream publishing.
